Free to play delayed?

I’ve read that the free launch is delayed to May. Is that true? If yes, why? thx for the answers

Yes. People were complaining about the game not being ready to be released. Now they just complain about the delayed release. This community is about 50% players who are just whiny all the time for no real reason.

What u mean about the game isn’t ready to be realeased? If that is true, why they granted the early access with founder pack  is senseless

It makes sense, actually. IMC needed funds to further enhance the game and now they got it. They’d only need the time to make things better because right now, influx of players would make things worse.

So if in May things in general will be worse or bad, they will have no excuse for justify the continuously date delay for free players. Hope will be good, so bad

Hmm the replies here aren’t clear.

Let’s follow the reasoning process IMC had for clarity:

(1) IMC noticed that the goldsellers capitalized on Steam regional discounts to buy cheap accounts for their illegal activities. Furthermore, it was possible for goldsellers to buy cheap discounted TP and resell at a profit. Therefore, IMC wanted to equalize the prices to address this problem and removed the discounts.

(2) There was considerable backlash, and many felt that it would only be fair if IMC was transparent about this change from the outset.

(3) Therefore, in order to ensure that there would still be regional discounts WHILE preventing the goldseller problem, IMC would make sure that the regional discounts were not removed, but applied only to the regional servers (e.g. SEA) and not to NA servers. That way, goldsellers cannot use the discounts on NA servers for profit, but regional players can use them for their own servers.

(4) Because a considerable amount affected by the discount change were South American players, IMC decided to set up a SA regional server for them.

(5) Because they needed time to set up the new SA server which was suddenly introduced, and to plan out the new regional pricing policies, as well as the recent server transfer issues, F2P release was delayed.

Tldr; Need more time for new servers and pricing policy change.

Thx for the answer, appreciated. Damn gold sellers

tl;dr They originally planned a 3 month early access, people whined and they naively reacted. Launch was a disaster more or less and the game is still recovering up till this day.

I hope for everyone’s sake they get it together come May.

Let me tell you a story.

A long time ago, IMC told it’s players “Hey guys, we’re still putting the finishing touches on the game before full release. If you would like, we are willing to let you buy early access to the server before then; but only do so if you really want to support us this early on.”

IMC then unveiled their plan for the game: a staggered release which restricts the access to those who bought the founder packs. The most expensive tier got a (whopping) 3 month start, the next: two months and the cheapest buy in got a month head start. F2p was supposed to launch in June at this point.

The community was furious they crucified IMC for their greediness and these very same forums was a battle ground between IMC and the horde of players who wanted to play the game now.

Taken aback, IMC had to quickly recollect themselves and created a ‘poll’ which let the players ‘decide’ on when early access should launch. The benefits of each choice in the poll were stacked heavily in favour of a one-month early access launch.

The problem is, instead of pushing back their entire project schedule to accommodate for the one month EA, IMC decided to stick to the schedule as if it were still on its 3 month staggered release schedule.

And the rest, as they say, is history.

The players, gleeful in their victory over ‘corporate greed’, ventured forth into Klaipeda yet to their surprise and horror, only server instability, lag, crashes and login queues awaited them and their rose-tinted nostalgia goggles; hoping, yearning to hear the boing-boing of that Poring one last time.

They were furious, the second coming of the apocalypse was, once again upon the forums. People were up-at-arms, Steam reviews were going down, support tickets rained from the heavens, it was a blood-bath. People were denouncing IMCs competency and belittled the so-called IMC “White Knights” who refused to join the hate train and dared to question the hivemind.

The players continued to demand retribution for the injustices IMC brought down upon them. (Questioning, demanding that servers in each region be implemented as multi-cultural flame-wars erupted the existing servers). Over time however, IMC slowly improved the state of the game little-by-little. Yet, as if it were a gift send from Laima herself, the community seems to find something to bicker and complain about which never ceases to amaze me up till this day.

Actually f2p delay has nothing to do with your story. So I think people may ignore my post since it is out of topic.

BUT I still enjoyed your narrative, though I can’t resist pointing out some flaws because I think it is important to maintain objectivity.

Incorrect, never said anything like that. The fact was that in February, they announced “OBT soon”. There was nothing, absolutely NOTHING, that indicated that there would be full blown PAID early access release. Subsequently, they deleted those OBT announcements after making the early access announcements.

So, far from giving players advance notice in the honeyed way you put it “only if you realy want to support us early”, they actually misled players by saying one thing - OBT, then doing another - paid early release.

Absolutely correct. This was their mistake.

IMC supporters vs IMC critics debate is irrelevant to the f2p delay. Also, people who support IMC blindly are as much a ‘hivemind’ as people who criticise IMC without discrimination. Both are wrong.

A++ Essay. Thanks for putting the whole story out as beautiful a read as this.

But yeah f2p delay is simply just because IMC has to fix things and fixing things takes time.

Thank you for the critique, i will leave my original post unedited so people can call me a pleb

Maybe I could have worded it better but in my eyes, the f2p delay was because they couldn’t handle crunching their 3 month plan into just a month without delays.

I mean, I wouldn’t be surprised if they find themselves at an impasse when the next f2p release looms over their heads and they decide to delay it again to June. (I wish this happens though, cause it’ll mean we went full circle and the whole fiasco would look like one big tragic-comedic story)

From the rate how things are going, it’s unlikely that’ll happen though.

But yeah, I was only keeping an eye on ToS very recently so I never saw their promised OBT (oops)
