You can’t prove that this is a “cash grab”, beside your own personal conjecture about a situation.
Not to mention
100 TP = $9
600 TP = $54
EA + 600 TP = $50
I believe most would consider that fair value.

i dont think it will become ghost server, except the game itself are boring.
there is no way ppls who buy founder pack will play new on new server:
they already considered this early access server as an elite/exclusive server.
the one who buy pack is the one who hype for this game
friends of that hype person always share same passion as them. (hard to find RL friends who have same game passion as yours, so they will form a strong bond that 50$ is merely nothing for them)
This is just a small favour, but when you reply to me, can you take the time to properly formulate your thoughts?
I constantly get updates about you quoting me in your edits and it’d be nice if you took some time to do it all once.
Thanks.
raises hand I have a quesetion.
Setting aside the anger/disappointment with IMC…
Given that the package prices are going to be adjusted according to the location of the purchaser according to Steam’s policies, and that they are going to open up fresh start servers at launch, what is the real problem with the EA servers?
Even if they do end up with low populations… I’d kind of prefer a smaller community to play with in some respects. I mean, I loved seeing everyone running around during iCBTs, but… do you all remember the sheer amount of lag from the people connecting from all over? The crowded spaces? The lack of stuff available for a decent price on the Auction House? The spam on the global chat?
I don’t want to be part of a ghost town, by any means, but having diversified communities might be something that provides a fit for players with different needs.
Not everyone likes a jam packed server. Some players prefer a smaller community. I think it would be great if we were able to provide both in a healthy manner. I also like that they’re going to offer fresh start servers for people that do NOT want to play on an established one (there’s nothing wrong with not wanting to have anything to do with the EA servers at all).
scratches head I really am sympathetic with players that are frustrated right now or who are worried about bad ping b/c of the initial location for hosting the game… maybe if enough people buy the packs we’ll at least be able to get some west coast ones too, ya know?
I’m not saying the situation is ideal by any means, but pointing fingers at the company and other players or being antagonizing isn’t really going to do anything to help.
I fear I need to actually pay 50€ instead if 50$ (which are 42€)
Brrr. That would suck.
Uh. well. There are pros and cons I guess. When you think about the people with the highest purchasing power on free to play servers, they are the ones who want to be better than the rest. If they can achieve that via spending money, they will do that. Since the majority isnt going to buy a lot, these with high purchasing power will feel like kings under peasants.
Now tell him to play with the other kings on the EA server. Well. Yeah. No.
I’m lacking statistics, so I can’t really prophesying what exactly is going to happen after these 3 months.
I fear I may not like how the things are going when it’s too late already, that’s why I’d rather get 3 servers looking exactly alike. Ahh… I guess I’m just being comfortable
Well, its not like the whole development of the game and their employees does not need any sort of payment. Renting/Buying servers and maintenance would also cost money. The game has not even been fully released yet so who do you think is forking out all the money? IMC or the Players? They did mentioned new servers might be added during the launch of F2P, so who knows if the money gained from the Founder’s pack would allow them to obtain more servers?
Besides, I believe everyone would cry and whine as well if the server were to crash and lag till it is unplayable due to everyone being cramped into a few servers during the start. I too would be pissed if that happens and everyone would be fighting for mob spawns. I’ve played OBT games like Tera online and Blade & Soul, it really sucked when server’s are having long queues or crashes/lags.
Hence, why not kill two bird with one stone? Offering EA package for those who can afford while possibly trying to provide more stable gameplay to them. Meanwhile, maybe based on the funds gathered, paying their employees for maintenance as well as obtaining more servers to accommodate the high population of F2P players later on to reduce the mentioned problems?
What do you guys think? Start all together in a few servers and face server lag/crash and other issues or let them distribute the players smoothly while gather at least some funds to provide additional servers for the rest?
Almost forgot to mention, the EA package do comes with cash points and some freebies (not sure if I’m even interested in the hats) but at least there are some stuff to compensate else it would indeed be called money milking. Tho it is understandable that the price is pretty steep for many players, but it’s not like there are no F2P servers provided later on.
Please don’t bash me for my personal opinions
I think those are some valid points, though I think with the pricing… they mean that it should get adjusted to an equivalent value? I’m not quite sure how steam works in other countries. ^^a I am really hoping it’s fair though. I have quite a few European and BR friends who want to play (even if they don’t right away) together… heck I know people from all over that are wanting to group up.
I guess I’m a bit of an oddball because I was sweet on RO for so long, and was on Sakray (back when the game was subscription based) until the day it got merged. I like the close knit feel that some of the smaller server games have, but I know not everyone feels that way!
Apparently they need 3 months to get the game ready for the free-to-play masses. And they want the founders to help them getting the game ready. And they need money. So the EA model is killing 3 birds with one stone already.
