Found a Botter in Shanton Farm on Laima(solved)

I found a bot when i was grinding, he was here earlier but was not using a bot program.

After a hour or two, it came back. This time with a macro bot of some sort, and started doing the left and right walking animation and shooting at nothing. This was just a closed beta and there has already been people trying to bot.

Oh and btw, this guy was probably sitting in front of his comp doing somthing else while botting as you can see he chatted back to me saying that he’s a botter at 0:54 of the video.

here’s the video as it was uploading when i was posting.

Ever heard of Razer keyboards with macro? this isnt a bot and obviously a macro. Please know the difference. A bot program would be more intelligent than just a macro who will do the same thing over and over again. Macro is not cheating but bot is.

Well, the guy in the video should’ve explained that it is a macro and not telling me that he is a bot.

He probably doesn’t know the difference either. It seems that most people in ToS don’t know the difference :pensive:.

There is a huge difference though.

Macro AFK-levelers are legal (it kind of has to be legal considering how easy IMC made it. They can’t reasonably make it that easy and then punish people for abusing it), but macros are also relatively easy for IMC to stop (if they decide they want to).

Bots are typically not legal (I can’t think of a single game that they are legal in), and significantly harder for IMC to detect and stop (since they have an AI and are designed to behave as an ordinary player). So far I have not seen a single actual report of a botter.

Macro AFK-levelling doesn’t really need to be reported any more. IMC must be fully aware of it at this time, and if they will fix it if they want to.

Actual bots (with AI), should be reported, because at this point (from what I can tell by playing in-game and reading the forums) ToS has 0 bots (although I am sure there must be at least a few out there somewhere…).

Yes, i dont know the diffrences of both macro and bots. That’s because i’m inexperienced with these type of situations. As i always buy the cheaper keyboards that can help me type and play, and not the ones with extra gadgets and stuff.

edit : thanks for teaching me how to differentiate it though, appreciate your guidance.

Its alright. You can do it even without razer keyboards with a cheap coin trick. lol. Although coin trick will just auto attack and not move.

Usually in MMOs, macro farming is still illegal if the user doesn’t sit in front of their PC & actually interact with the game in some way, or use a 3rd pt program instead of a good keyboard (not that it’s any different but really hard to detect hardware input). If he’s AFK then it’s considered botting.

In this particular case though, since he replied to you in chat, there’s just nothing to be done about, no matter what he said.

If you still wanna blame someone, blame IMC for making the game so bot-friendly, every mob take 1-2 hit to kill, there’s no need for tank/support roles in grinding process… And they’ll most likely rely on their low quality security measures from KR that’ll be install in the future, which will most likely be easily bypassed in a day or 2, rather than fixing the game’s core.
