Self-targeted ad-hominem…and a false one at that.
IMO more games need to force grouping, I mean whats the point of a mmorpg if you can bascally play it like a single player game? MMO’s have always been about grouping up and doing things together, not the new wow-clone where 95% of the game is soloable.
Well I can’t see many problems in this. End game content is usually restricted for group play is most of the MMOs anyway.
I will keep playing solo while the game allows me to and will play in groups when needed, it’s not that unbearable. I have no problems on seeing random players as a simple interactive AI (a AI that may tell you that it will bang your mother for doing something wrong sometimes, but you know…technology these days, humpf).
Solo 1,8 mio exo.
Party 3mio+ /hour.
…No brainer.
But yeah soloists will need to party up.
No they wont. You can still stick to being mister lonewolf who never goes into a party. And even does dungeons solo.
Just don’t be surprised when it gets hardcore xD…
Tell us your experience in 30 levels
No games dont need to force grouping. They need to force socializing, these are very different.
There’s always WoW and other standard games where you can be a star.
Promotes interaction between players in order to progress at a reasonable pace. You get to learn who are good/bad people to party with and different styles of play that others have.
For those who haven’t ever played in a guild or don’t have their own group of people to play with, it can often help form those initial bonds between players.
As others have said, while you can attempt to solo you’ll be getting maybe 1/5 of the exp of a decent group so it’s in your best interest to interact with other players around your level to form a levelling group.
The game continues to promote grouping for killing world bosses, only the top 2 parties will get cubes from the bosses so you have almost no chance if you’re trying to solo dps the boss with other people around.
Consider the following:
Tree of Savior is an MMORPG. That second M stands for “Multiplayer”. Complaining about having to play with other people in a multiplayer game is about as asinine as it gets.
you can grind and do dungeons/missions alone kirito sama. no one is forcing you into parties
FFXI was probably the best MMO community I’ve ever seen. Ragnarok Online was probably number two, to be fair. Both of these games were heavily party based grindfests.
Look no one force you to do nothing.
You want to play a mmo solo iver a much better solo rpg, tgen do it .
You get ksed, world bosses will not give you look most of the time.
There builds in this game that can play 100% of the tame solo, pkay as them.
Really why you play an mmorpg in the first place if you play solo only?
Well I understand your point of view. I’m a group player, but I get that people have their needs.
The current content at 200+ is geared towards group play due to the difficulty of the mobs. I’m not quite sure what they could propose to do? Some options that could provide for solo players without discouraging group play:
- Create a simple 1 man dungeon or mission to run for basic stuff
- Create weak field mobs just for solo players?
- You should play classes that can solo really well even at 200+, like quarrelshooter-musketeers (I think this is the best option, really, in light of things are now). Avoid ranged mobs and magic mobs ofc or use your pavise.
Although admittedly, I find your case quite weak honestly. The ‘M’ in MMORPG means that asking for specific solo content in this game begs the question of why aren’t you redirecting your efforts into normal RPGs in the first place.
wow that made no sense I see…
MMORPG is made for community’s it is the aspect of a community that keeps an mmorpg alive making it more single player orientated kills an mmo did you know that…
You need to stop expecting games to change around for your preference’s and start accepting things as they are if a game was made with multiplayer in mind and single player as sub that is what it is that is what makes a game more enjoyable because people like me joined this game because of the multiplayer aspect and not so much like skyrim because that’s a single player game.
Ill leave this last note to what your saying “not the game forcing players to do it” reminds me of a person who plays a game like LoL in a 5v5 and wants to 1v1 someone…
Yep oh but the reward when pulled off was golden
what if I told you people turn that way when they are allowed to solo or methods that use ques because they believe if they get blocked from a group and there’s the option to just solo its not lost on them and then they turn into trolls I know this comparing to other mmos.
FFXI, Ragnarok, LoM, MoS, Vanilla wow, Eve online these had great people because there was no such thing as a easy meens to get into a party it required effort and people was much more accepting of failure because it happens.
I have a huge list of other mmo so I am going to say common era mmos these games with easy means to get into a party via little effort aka pug group finder make people very negative and very a-holeish because they become self entitled to the fact they don’t require effort and there is really no punishment for them because well they can easily just solo content to work around the punishment.
my first 30 levels on the first 5 maps was easy but I found it easier to be partied with someone as I was support for 30 lvs I think we cleared it in half the time then if we would have done it solo.
You hit the nail on the head with “Initial bonds between players” understanding the random aspect of interaction with other players finding out what is good or bad and finding a solution to benefit each other via means of synergistic builds remember a person supported by someone who can heal out ways someone who is solo sticking with potions.
haha. I’m not a solo player. Half of my enjoyment from mmos comes from the community, which I unfortunately dislike in this game since people tend to take everything with a very strange, ugly attitude. Like you, for instance. If you want, I can throw you my old entire rant against the 600% boost in dungeons because it promotes antisocial gameplay if it helps you understand the first few words of my post.
An MMORPG is a game where thousands of people play on the same world together, to emulate interactions in real life. Just as I hate systems that interfere with community cohesiveness, I do not like systems that force people to play in ways that make them uncomfortable. Both damage the game. A community should form more naturally. People in MMORPGs are prone to ignoring each other the same way people ignore each other on a bus. Just because you stick a bunch of people together in the same place going the same direction doesn’t mean they’ll create the happy togetherness you want. It’s better to leave room for people to adjust to their own playstyles for their own enjoyment, because it is their own experience with the game.
No matter how antisocial they may be, an mmorpg at its core is based around its “massive” amount of people on a singular space. It will affect them, and “solo” isn’t super objective as a result. You /cannot/ force people who do not want to be social to be social. You can encourage them very strongly, as I suggested, but you can’t force it. That’s all I am saying.
You play games for fun, no? If someone would rather play alone despite all the downsides they may face, if that makes it fun for them, you really have no place to force them to do otherwise. They are still a part of the playerbase. The issue is if everyone plays solo because it’s so easy to do so, and people are naturally disposed to follow.
I don’t think this game needs a change in favor of the solo players because I see a lot of solo players already, like the guy who got one of the first rank 7s on Orsha. It means it’s possible, which is all that is necessary. I don’t think this community is cohesive at all, either, but that’s partially due to how terrible it is. I have no clue as to why you think I think the game should cater to solo players.
I have edited the opening for some clarifications.
