For you: why exist META?

It would be because of broken class?
time limit (ET, FL, instanced dungeon)?

Meta exists so nolifes have something to aim at to show everyone how great (lame) they are.

huehue

By meta you mean stat and class builds?

People want to be efficient.

What they don’t realize that being efficient with a build is easy. Being insanely powerful is just a silver farm.

Most highly geared and highly attributed players I’ve seen don’t even bother farming anymore. They don’t go hunting or anything. They are so well set in their farm that they don’t even have to play the core game anymore.

Whoever has the most silver, deals the most damage. Content end game is so deadly that right now clerics trump other classes for the simple fact that they have damage immunity so they can survive long enough to kill monsters.

Welcome to the MMORPG…

It’s always that way in any of the MMORPGs, and always also partly if not entirely the fault of the playerbase. They want to have power more than anything, best if no effort is needed to gain this.
This is what generally makes MMORPGs not RPGs but its own genre, because in RPGs, everything you have is created by your own effort, in contrast to “social online gaming”, where people with lots of $$$ rule because the people who have less tend to sell their stuff more easily than players who have a lot of things.

This anti-social community behaviour is induced onto us by modern education and determines our daily lives even up to the games we play…

  • Ever wondered why there’s a ranking system after defeating a boss monster in a dungeon? It’s to soothe the ego of people who “invest” into the game (time, money & dedication), and it basically defies the idea of playing cooperatively.

  • Ever wondered why random party function gives higher EXP bonus than pre-made parties? It’s because 1.: people who spend money are often loners ingame & 2.: It provides a huge advantages for egoistic players, because they can just play whatever they like the way they like without suffering any consequences[ :rage: looking at the guys playing archers&swordies, leeching ones heals because they are cheapskates who aren’t willing to buy the cheaper HP pots].

  • Ever wondered why Blessed Shards became tradeable?
Exact same reason, people want to become effortlessly stronger [also exponentially since the weapon rises to up to 650% base atk/matk e.g.] by spending real cash on the game [RMTing costumes, Tokens,etc.].

These are just a few examples, and also one of the reason why meta exists. Meta just helps you having less effort spent on the game while the game practically plays itself for you.

Cant tell if TC need to go sleep cause it post has nothing to do with his title…

or am the one who need sleep cause I actually clicked on this thread…

Meta exists because retards still level Scout3 and think it’s good. They need guidance.
Because you don’t want a retard in your team.

Non-retards can make non-meta builds that are still good.

META is the most effective way to play a game. This happens as many players define it. It can either exist because of how the content they are thrown against changed, or either because of how well the playable offers can perform in those scenarios.

When a problem is found out in a game in regards to balance, players start to find what playable options can make beating the content easier and more effective.

You have the classes that can farm the fastest, that can kill ST the fastest, that can kill many enemies the fastest, that can support the best, that can tank, etc.

A problem in balance may find one of the playable characters at a horrible disadvantage. This can be changed if the devs take the time to balance stuff out.

The main problem in regards to why this exists is in the devs willing to change it, not the playerbase.

And non-retards can make non-meta builds effective, but in this game, non-meta and meta in a specific scenario cannot compare. Very unfortunate. :frowning:

^ what he said.

I once had a 5v5 TBL match with a cleric in our party. He had really good gear (lotsa +15s yo!), but what really surprised me was his build - the only C2 rank was Cleric, everything else was C1 - a C1 of each cleric class.

I laughed internally, then seconds later my jaw dropped when everyone else in the team was already dead and he breezed a 1v3 scenario and won us that match. I can’t clearly recall what happened; if the enemy team was just derps (I do remember they had a cleric and a wiz type) or this cleric on our team was just super pro.

IIRC he had Oracle > Kabal > Inqui in his build. Definitely not an everyday sight.

Anyways, that was weeks/month ago. Maybe a few others have copied his build now.

Soon, non-meta build cleric with whale support is the new meta!

Oracle kabal inquis is PvP meta now

Oh, so it was only a matter of time.

I’m not sure about monk and pala -centric builds but the thing with cleric is that most of its builds, no matter how weird or f*cked up it is, it still works.

For ET / 315 need meta team comp to run effectively. Until they balance each class making efficient and future proof build is the key. This include meta build. It’s easier to find a party. Would you want a cleric 1 in your end game party? 6 healin tiles at end game is horrible.

Well meta sucks!
It´s just shows that the balance in the game is broken.

Meta exists in every game, even for games that are near perfectly balanced. As long as there are different classes/builds/characters, tiers of efficiency will be there and there will be meta. We can’t run away from them. In ToS meta is more prevalent coz of the gap in between meta and non meta builds. More tweaks are required to close up the gap.

MMO always have META builds, always, doesnt matter if even is Hello Kitty Online, stats, damage, equips, just the best combination to do damage and rule PVP, and end getting nothing but drama

It’s a shame but I mostly agree with what most people say here.

-We have life. Not 24/7 to test every single build
-We want a quick instant “This is the best build” not “try this and waste too much time”
-A bad build will be a bad build(unless can be salvaged with new rank soon to come). Especially when you’re a DPS
-The mindset of people. overly 90% people wants to be either the strongest, the most useful, wants quick cash build and soloist. The rest of 10% is a hardcore tester, unique players or play purely for fun with friends to accept you whatever you are

and the last one is this.is.just.another.game.:joy:
