First impressions: Boruta

So, yesterday was the first day of the highly anticipated Borutos Kapas content. So here are my first impressions after trying this during the evening…
First: if you were there on Fedi yesterday, you’ve probably seen me losing my nerves… :haha:
It doesn’t happen often, but when it happens I tend to breathe fire really heavily…

What a frustrating content… A good idea, badly implemented. So here’s the pros and the cons:

PROS

  1. Brutal fight against a powerful enemy with “friendly fire” mode activated. This is a cool concept, close to what you’d find in FPS games. You need to carefully plan your attacks while staying away not only from the boss, but from other players’ attacks.
  2. Boruta himself. He’s a very powerful enemy with devastating moves. Prepare to die a lot if you’re not careful enough. However, his defense isn’t “godlike”, so with a good character you can actually manage to hurt him. That’s how a boss should be.

CONS

  1. Lag and crashes. There is only one channel for the fight and two for the outer area (Vedas Plateau). This is not manageable, especially when the whole server population comes to see what’s all the fuss about by curiosity.
  2. Pet glitch. When you die inside while using a pet in active mode, your companion continues to attack other players… or even Boruta himself. When I left yesterday evening, spot #2 for individual contribution on Fedi was held by an empty name with enough points to even be top #2 for guild contribution! My guess is that all pet damage accumulated into this.
  3. This is mainly what made me lose my nerves: people inside sniping everyone entering the area on spawn points. Maybe they don’t know they gain nothing by killing other people. Maybe they’re just trolling… However this behavior is beyond lameness, and the first thing to improve is to ensure that you’re not instantly killed when entering.
  4. No clear info on how the scoring works. You can play hours inside the area and get zero points. You can get a large amount in no time. After some time, I think I figured out how this works: the damage you deal to Boruta is accumulated and you score a point once a threshold is attained… but your score is reset every time you die (or leave the area). If someone could confirm this, that would be nice.
  5. Problem targeting the boss in mouse mode. This is the same problem as anywhere else when you have to fight a boss: Saalus, missions, WBs, field bosses… The area where you can click with your mouse to actually go into “targeting mode” is so small it feels like it’s one single pixel. This forces you to target an area or a direction and pray your attack lands. This is even more frustrating in the case of Boruta because there are usually a lot of people around him… and they take precedence over the boss, so you end up attacking other players instead of Boruta.

So yeah… people will say this is garbage (casual players), some will say it’s fine and fun (top geared PvP players). I guess it’s in between: a good idea that needs improvements. Looking at other threads, it seems that the devs are already taking into account the feedback from the player base. So we’ll have to wait and see.

I’m with you on this one, the idea is pretty good, the execution … not so much

There’s some work that needs to be done, but yeah I can see the fun potential in this.

I just wish IMC would just work a bit longer on this before releasing it

Dude…the people that say its garbage are not casuals, do some research and look at the guild contribution ranking boards from each server.

The #1 guild on each server bested the next closet guild by over 1,000 points, 2,000+ I believe on the SA server.

Boruta is just an 70 man zerg that divides their forces between each spawn point to instantly kill players before they can load in and has a secondary force shadow the dragon killing anyone that reaches it while their officers dps it and farm points.

This isnt one of those times where people just complain b/c someone is better at something then they are, this thing is 100% busted.

The idea is bad, the execution even worse.
The only trinkets for casters locked away behind this garbage. Would be fine with PVP off but not like this.

How friendly fire is a good idea when 90% of the characters on your stupid game have strong wide screen moves?

You’re delusional mr op.

After the second day of daying after being zerged in Boruta, i got a susgestion to devs. The guild and players of that guild who kill’s Boruta will receive a penalty, similar as a old world boss debuff, making that guild do not receive the reward or unable to enter the boruta área. That will make others guilds chance to participate.

The world bosses arent any different, good luck getting in the top 25 on Klaipedia. And dont come at me with that gitgud crap, there are 100s of players on NA with +20 or higher, trans 10 wpns and full legendary trans 10 sets and 100 attributes.

I have np with people having nice stuff, they either earned it or bought a crap ton of tp to trade for it, but theres a few thousand people playing atm, and you only give 25 folks of like 300 that show up to a WB a cube, thats pretty fkd up.

the point is, when the guild do boruta their cant do again until next week

I feel you man. Take a look at this:

Literally a 10 minute vid of guy trolling without landing a single hit on Boruta. I have no idea when this was posted compared to the beginning of the event, but I’ve noticed at roughly 7 minutes into the vid that Boruta was still at 99.91%. Way to go until he gets down at this rate…

I guess intense pvp is a new meaning for bullcrap fiesta.

this actually kinda motivates me in a twisted way, since greifing is technically legal when fighting boruta, you could assemble a guild of assholes specifically to pk people lul.

Because DPSing a huge boss with ridiculously high damage and HP makes sense while there are 5-6 guilds pvping around you amirite

Reality is that getting damage on the boss is only feasible if you are the only ones on the map, to an extent.

Ya ive moved on, I never had any expectation of placing when we can only get 5 or 6 people of our guild to go, I just wanted to see the dragon tbh, get a few hits in, check things out, nothing crazy.

It was just very irritating to be spawn camped to the point that in 30 minutes I never once was able to even load in alive or take more then 3 steps or use more then a single skill.

As long as we can farm class seals in the new Irr. Shelter HG to upgrade our seals in MS2 type rng hell fashion I guess its fine, but it does upset me that IMC is giving basically 1 or 2 guilds on each server their own private raid boss and free high end recipes and equipment for simply just having 300 people.

We just did it

We did it big time

I’m not sure if you’re a troll or retarded or both. But i won’t feed you anymore. By the way, Boruta died yesterday on Klaipeda.

Yes, b/c the server already gave up trying to combat your zerg and everyone left you guys alone in there, gem feud was back to the normal channel crashing madhouse it usually is.

One of my guildees tried to sneak in to check Boruta’s health when it was around 25% and he was instanly vaporized by the Impetus zerg.

Like we said, congrats on your personal raid boss.

Actually there was about 60-80 people in the Boruta map near the end, some lag but no channel crash.

Sorry but you guys, melody, and forbidden ruined the content for anyone not in 1 of your 3 guilds.

You dont get contribution points for killing other players but the 3 of your guilds spent the 1st 2 days zerging anyone that moved without letting anyone within 100 yards of the dragon until people just gave up and left.

You guys can say whatever you want but anyone that tried to participate in the new content saw the same thing and its pretty much the same on every server. The only server that reported mature coordination without nonstop griefing and ganking was Fediman.

Cry more babyboy.

We made that content, right? Not IMCs fault for sure.
