Fire Property: Explosion change was abysmal

This change to Elementalist was beyond absurd let me tell you why:

  • Its a 10% chance on skill cast rather than skill proc or whatever, making it a huge RNG factor to proc
    Yes the old one was 30% but even that was quite easily proccable with a Pyromancer build, to which this HEAVILY INFLUENCES and was obviously built for alongside meteor

  • It gives a measly 30% damage buff to fire property skills
    Which not only tries to force you into holding fire spells until you proc it, it gives you such a small buff that it feels like a near waste trying to build up for it. It seems more like a whoop you actually did it heres a non-existant reward to not feel bad rather than the old explosion which did so much damage against stacks of mobs

  • It lasts for 5 god popo seconds
    This means you can barely throw anything out, especially if you are in a hectic situation and dont even notice the buff applying in an instant. It lasts for such a small time that you can barely throw 1 meteor and some other spell with a decently high ping (150+ or so)

The new attribute either needs two of the three options:

  • Buff proc chance: Make it same the same as before. 30% was a good baseline. Trying to proc 10% feels like such a huge gamble. I have to basically spam fireballs and magic missiles so I proc it at least once in a fight which drains a â– â– â– â–  load of SP.

  • Buff damage: 30% seems way too low for just 10% chance and 5 seconds. Make it somewhere around 50-80 to make it even somewhat reasonable.

  • Buff duration: 5 seconds from 10% chance to deal 30% more damage? Its quite literally weaker than most of the damage buffs that are permanently on with barely any downsides (excluding DoV and its more damage taken).

My opinion is to either buff two out of three or just leave it permanently in the gutter and lets return to 2016 Pyromancer.

Or like update the game engine and give back the old explosion so it doesn’t destroy FPS

Yes, I wrote something similar when the patch notes came out. A buff with 10% chance of proc and 5s is equal to nothing in ToS term.

5s is almost the time to cast some skill without quick cast, not counting those that do not have cast but has delay in the animation. Totally bonkas and tasteless this buff.

In the 2 cm that I went after the patch, I still have not seen proc that buff

Make it to something like “burn debuff that spread to nearby target” should be better and add new red card “increase damage against burned enemies by xx%”.

An update: I do not know about the other elementalists, but I think the attribute is still disabled. After the patch, in all the activities I went to, I still have not seen the buff activating.

It does work. Are you sure you didnt turn it off?
Its a fire icon at buff bar and procs… sometimes.

Why are you saving attacks and trying to proc it? No wonder you’re hating it so much.

Just let it proc itself as you’re fighting. It doesn’t seem like they intended it to be used for anything except a random rng buff while rotating skills.

So many classes have access to %damage steroids, with and without drawbacks but clear accessibility (DoV making you take more damage, Fanaticism cutting away any heals on you, Frenzy requiring you to hit enemies nonstop…) yet all of these are easy to maintain at will or have a set, reasonable duration and cooldown, meanwhile elementalist gets a chance on skill cast, not even on skill hit, which would already be a lot better, for 5 seconds, and only for fire spells, not even general damage

Elementalist, a strictly PvE only class, gets a nerf they didn’t deserve because the explosion attribute was causing performance issues. They’re literally getting free nerfed because of the game’s engine

30% is really nice damage, the problem is how you access it. I can imagine how mad it would make me if Deeds of Valor was changed to a “10% per hit received to deal 33% more damage for 5 seconds”. And still somehow that feels more reliable…

That’s almost saying “don’t use it”. If he just doesn’t pay attention to it and let it activate without watching where’s the benefit? Imagine it activates, but oh wow all his fire spells are on cooldown.
I know elementalists are masters of elements, but seems like gambling is the fifth element

Well… that is what I’m saying, but more along the lines of “don’t rely on it”.

Pyro-ele already had Fireball - Storm Dust and Flame Ground - Meteor as a combination. And considering they have access to classes like Taoist or Myouji as their potential third options, this attribute would be too strong if it was buffed with that in mind imo.

I get that being nerfed sucks a lot, and I don’t think its fair that other classes have similar strong buffs or problems too. But in regards to the other classes in the Wizard tree, Pyro and Ele are both doing pretty well off right now, because of the skill combinations and buffs that are there already.

Considering that pretty much every other class in the game that has a damage buff CAN rely on it and play around it feels pointless.

Most wizard builds becomes strong due to Taoist because its hilariously broken. Myoji is a fair argument because it was made to have a better interaction with Pyro. Myoji is nowhere comparable to Taoist though.

My problem is not the nerf itself alone. I hate when they make the entire buff feel useless. I’ve played pyroele for 2 years and the attribute was one of the key reasons: it was consistent never-failing AoE damage. Now it just feels so… random. It makes the gameplay a lot more stressful because you have to consider what to cast all the time so you dont waste the potential damage buff.

Yeah mostly because Taoist exists. Everything is usable with proper gear so I’ll give you that. Pyroele shines with Taoist but lets be real here what doesnt. You can create any sort of Pyro / Taoist / X and it would work good.

That’s the problem. IMC kept selling Re:Build as the rework that made all classes stand for themselves and not to rely on others, but now it feels like wizard tree gets this treatment of “if you don’t have taoist you’re not a dps”

A nerf shouldn’t be explained by saying “they have access to X class”. They’re still far from being weak but that’s just worrying for future balance issues

Thank you IMC for buffing it like it deserved. Now I dont have to feel bad for not picking Taoist.
