Filter language

my son play a game with filter chat. you choose your native language so the server know your language then you can choose what language do you want see in the chat and shout. i was playing the other servers in ToS, then open latinamerica server and I start one more time in this server. but mmmm this server is Brazil server. i cant understand nothing, every time BR shouts and chat. i dont have any confort here. i want back to international server.

I like BR people but i dont talk portuguese.

Why did you join LATIN AMERICAN server if it’s purpose was not for american speaking population.
Just stay on the first 3 servers and wallah ENGLISH!

is only suggestion, if a game can have filter language, i think ToS can too

Detecting specific languages is incredibly unreliable, and cannot be done with 100% accuracy with current technology. If this was implemented, you could easily miss a part of a conversation simply because the person speaking misspelled a word, or used slang, or many other factors that could throw off the filter.

What game is your son playing, if you don’t mind me asking? I am incredibly curious how they managed to implement this language filter.

no detecting, the process is easy. when you start the game. you choose your language. example español. each player choose the native language. so the system know your native language. then when I choose filter in the chat only spanish or you can choose 2 language o 3. english and spanish. the chat only show english and spanish choosen native language of players.

the game is pokemmo.

Ok, I see what you mean. But really that is what you are doing when you select a server. By selecting one of the first 3 servers you are selecting ‘English’ as your native language, and by selecting the LA server you are selecting ‘Portuguese/Spanish/Latin American/Brazilian/Chilean/Argentinian/Peruvian/Paraguayian/Etc.’ as your native language.

I feel like the game would be confusing if you could not see the text of someone who was trying to talk to you, simply because it is a language you can not understand. Like if you are in a party and the person is yelling “LE HEALO! LE HEALO!” at you but you can not see it because it is Portuguese.

you are right. maybe only for the shout

Maybe he speaks… SPANISH? lika the majority of LA?. Portuguese =/= spanish

This system only works for game text because it’s pre-made and is translated by a person at a desk as a new text file. The system has no idea what language players are typing in without some shitty algorithm, just look at google translate.
