Fencer questions due to the rank 8 forecast

I have seen a lot of fencer varieties. All points seem to have their own pros and cons. Allow me to enumerate the styles.

Barb3>fencer2 = imho i dont really see how barb 3 could benefit from the 3rd circle of fencer 3. Although barb3 could stand alone, it would ultimately be best suited with doppel c3 because of the recent cleave and pounce buffs. But i dont really want to play doppel.

Hop3>fencer2 = now this build will get benefits from fencer c3 because of stabbing and pierce. Plus it also gives lunge from hopc2. But what i dont really like here is that finestra ultimately becomes useless when you switch to rapier. And you have to switch to spear when using lunge. Which, by the way, is troublesome because swordies have no auto switch like archers. This could be THE go-to fencer build if they remove finestra restriction to spear.

Highlander2>cor1>fen2 = this is another meta build i have been seeing lately. They say the go for highlander for crossguard and skyliner only. I dont know when or wether we will get the 0cd skyliner, but for now, i see this as a waste in rank to go for highlander. Plus having to use cross guard and waiting to block before you dish out damage is a bit gimmicky for me. And i dont really see amy synergy with fencer 3 for this build. If im wrong please correct me.

I find it hard to pair up some classes with fencer. The best among the 3 i can see now is the barb3 path. But having pure dex builds dont really make it shine.

Maybe when fencer 3 comes the new distribution for fencers will be str heavy than dex? I only base this with the new debuffs and buffs fencers are going to have.

If you guys have any further info for fencers please feel free to discuss. I really want to play a fencer class but im not sure what path to take as most of the classes dont sync with fencers.

people pick Barb for its aoe and slash skills which Fencer lacks and to throw some slash skills that can work with Lunge and with the new patch for Cleave this goes on much further.

just like what you said Hops will give Fencers a bigger piercing skill toolkit, a gap closer(Long Stride), Attaque Coquille and Spear Lunge together makes any of the next Pierce skill ignore def and almost double in damage works like having 3 Preparation minus the blocking on the other 2 shots, but alas, yes Finestra gets thrown out the window post rank6 once you get your hands on a rapier.
I mean, if Finestra works with any wep it be a mainstay in any swordie meta build with it’s crit/block/aoe ratio

haven’t played this build yet but highlander is said to be good due to its previously 0CD skill(which we did not get) together with armor break, bleed, shock debuff. Corsairs work most for PVP builds for their CCs Hook and Chain and Dust Devil but JollyRoger is always welcome in parties due to damage nullifying att. and steal silver/drop chances

I personally main a pelt>hop2>cor>fen>dopp and already plan on dropping whatever the devs throw at us at rank9(Luchador and Matador being candidates) just for that fencer circle 3.

Stabbing and Pierce are great, but remember, you have attaque composee at Fencer C2, with that you can totally ignore stabbing and pierce, just use your preparation for sept etoiles.

You spend on only one attribute instead of three or two, and that’s composee. What you want here is spear lunge. So if that’s good enough for you, go with hoplite. Consider Stabbing and Pierce as a bonus.

With Barb, most of your slash problems are solved. Remember pierce gets 25% penalty on cloth, slash covers that. And lastly, Barbs provide stun, hoplite doesn’t. Barb provides more skills with innate aoe ratio to help with your crappy rapier, for hoplite you’d have to use spear and finestra attribute. or maybe a brandish.

I’d go with Barb, I think people are going in the wrong direction thinking barb benefits fencer less.

Cleave>Spam Flanconnade.

You have 3 cleave charges, that’s 15 seconds, it has low cooldown, 16s. Each cleave grants slash vulnerability and +50 Flat Crit rate.

You can even use Lunge in between, more slash damage. This turns your level 1 flanconnade into an anti-cloth boss.

And never forget, warcry. it looks bad for bosses but don’t forget you can use it when boss spawns traps.

Do you guys think that it is a possibility that fencers will go str heavy because of its circle 3?

If we get the Concentrate buff from KTOS, I would go for Swordsman3>Peltasta1 or Barbarian1>Corsair1>Fencer3

Why Peltasta or Barbarian at rank 4 ?

Since going Corsair at rank 5 for Jolly Roger(farming), Iron Hook(PVP) and Dust Devil(PVP) that limits rank 4 choice to a class C1 only. The options are: Peltasta, Highlander, Barbarian, Hoplite, Rodelero and Cataphract

Highlander C1 is useless for a Fencer.
Hoplite C1 is only good for Stabbing, Finestra requires a spear.
Rodelero C1, Montano is good CC, but all other skills require shield.
Cataphract C1, guess Fencer skills may not be used mounted, maybe I’m wrong.

That leaves at Barbarian(Cleave’s +50% slash buff and Helm Chopper’s stun) and Peltasta(Guardian’s +18% evasion and Swash Buckling’s taunt for utility)

Since I don’t know much about Fencer C3 skills I can’t decide yet.

what’s the concentrate buff?
