First one is DPS build, which is more effective in PVE;
Second one is a PVE/PVP hybrid and focus on dual weild auto attacks.
So the first build can dish out more dmg than the 2nd?
Well, in the long run, both will give good damage, however the first one will give you more numbers. But it is like, a little amount, maybe 200 more.
However the corsair give you some utility that might help you in scenarios where more numbers won’t actually help.
Consider which tools you will have in the future, like other friends with other classes.
Well, Corsair looks more fun to try. But I’m worrying about not getting fencer c2, is it okay?
The only thing you lose by going corsair1 only is the skills based on two weapons, which do not synchronize well with the fencer skills, as they are not attack based. There’s also the fact that you get less points, which might be something to consider.
You could also remove one barbarian rank by decreasing some buff damage (that could be filled with some investment on weapons and gems, your corsair should help here) and then have corsair2 and fencer2 altogether. Don’t worry about decreasing you damage, though. Utility skills always scale better than flat damage buffs.
And of course, you gotta be a pirate.
you can’t have corsair c2 and fencer c2 currently on the same character. corsair starts at rank 5 and fencer starts at rank 6, the game currently ends with rank 7.
Oh, indeed. I totally miscalculated here.
Though it should not be a big problem as more ranks are to be expected.
Please read before saying anything. That’s why I said I’m worried about not getting one. And I’m talking about the 2nd build. -.-
So 1st build is better than 2nd?
please read before saying anything, I was replying to his suggestion of taking both corsair c2 and fencer c2 on 1 character which is currently not possible.
If your focus is on getting two ranks on Fencer, than the first one should be the optimal now, damage wise.
It is still a good solo PVE build on early/mid game, which happens to be the only real content of this game.

You should be nice to Lostac. He’s like the resident Fencer support guy; not being sarcastic.
I value his advice at least.
Usually I am all about Corsair C2 > Fencer C1, it’s my main build. However since they already pointed it out, I’d like to say Fencer C2 is also really good. You can gain a lot of damage from Preparation > Attaque Coquille > Sept Etoiles. You also gain Attaque Composee, which I thought was lack luster originally, but it is a huge damage boost. Over all you’ll also have more points to pump up things like Lunge and Attaque Coquille, increasing not only the duration of your pierce/slash attacks but party members. Also easier evasion increases from evasion skills, you could choose to skip Esquive and just take Lunge for 100% evasion at lvl 10.
Expanding on Corsair C2, Lunge > Dustdevil, or Attaque Coquille > Hexen Dropper is wonderful damage. With Fencer at C1, you can take Lunge 5 giving 50% evasion, Esquive I would say at 3, use Guardian if you decided to take a circle of pelt, easy 88% evasion increase helping you to tank. Of course though, magic is still an issue as it is for any class. And of course Hook > Haul is just awesome PvP utility. You can either hook for your friends team mates to go ham, or hook, haul, stun - further immobilizing them. And Auto Attacks, they are just fun, great successive damage.
So either way, you’d have a good time. Just pick what you think is fun. Compare some builds, they are all over http://www.tosbase.com/tools/skill-simulator/builds/
I saw your build at the site. According to your personal experience, is it fun to play corsair 2? And btw, is the difference in the damage output btwn the first build ( Barb c3 > fencer c2 ) and 2nd build ( Barb c2 cors c2 > fencer c1) THAT BIG???
I favor cors 'cause I think it’s AA is so much good to look at.
I have not yet hit Corsair C2, only Fencer C1. I decided to go Corsair > Fencer > Corsair because of the evasion boost, fun skills, and I ain’t gonna lie I love that costume. That is why I give a warning at the top of my build that it is part theory craft, but I am 100% confident in it. Plus atm I am farming gear like hell so I haven’t been leveling much. I am however making a Corsair > Fencer C2 as an alt as well, was originally my main but I decided to reroll and keep her.
So over all I can say: It looks fun, I have talked to others who have fun with it, particularly just C2 Corsairs, I haven’t met many with a circle of Fencer as well.
Now for Barb C3, if you want just pure damage and better AoE with Seism, that is pretty much the way to go. Do I like it? Nah. You gain pouncing as well though for boss monsters and Frenzy becomes a lot more viable. If I were to take BarbC3, I would drop Fencer. Why? Because Frenzy uses auto attacks, doesn’t work with skills. So something like S>Pelt>Barbx3>Corsairx2. Then again you’d probably be better off looking at Dopple if pure damage was what you wanted.
I wonder how much coquille + hexen dropper does compared to spear lunge + hexen ?
for OP, i`d go with the 2nd because of hexen dropper. fast and hit hard. only downside is it has demonic cd… D;
Summoning the math side of ToS? Where you be? xD
