Disclaimer: I have not played wolfknight and only observed youtube videos

The concept of hybrid MOBA-MMOPRPG is nice but the game is boring with old school tab-targeting. You can read it in various comments.

My suggestion is treat it as a Multiple Character Control-Real Time Strategy like you did in your old game. This focuses players not on tab-targeting combat but on Micro controling.

To put it into perspective of Dota2, everyone is playing as Meepo but each meepo is its own character crytal maiden, omni knight, bounty hunter, axe, lychan trope, these five meepo are controlled by just 1 Player

your recycle your old system but gain a new concept of playing moba genre with everyone playing as meepo in a MMORPG like objective.

this allows you also to milk in money as each character require cosmetics. you can implement League of legends like method which makes it difficult to unlock characters via very long grind or instant unlock via cash.

… or make the gameplay similar to ToS while maintaining its graphics. That is a lot of work if this gets implemented lol.

Also, I’ve seen videos of WolfKnights, graphics are okay, but the combat and animation is just… abominable.

action combat moba have been done so i rather not have them compete with heavy weights

rather make themselves unique with already existing system that RTS style gameplay from GE but this time unlike other mobas you control 3-5 characters instead of 1. So it would focus on micro control skills of the player with multiple characters and thats where they can get niche player base.
