Feedback from a Falconer
This will include feedback about my entire class build.
Class build:
- Archer-Ranger-Ranger-Ranger-Fletcher-Falconer
Planned Skill Build:
Stats Build:
- I was 1:1 SPR:DEX until 100+ when I felt like it was falling off for my class buiild and I ended up switching to a 3:1 DEX:STR build which has been just great so far. Mana is such a struggle early on even with pots so having SPR for oblique shot (which is the majority of what youāre doing) is too good to pass up. Later it seems to fall off, my damage in the 90 dungeon was cry worthy with an SPR build as a Ranger, when I swapped to STR I noticed a difference, even just a minor one. Overall I think if youāre struggling in the damage department with Archer classes the go-to reason is either you need a better weapon/ a more upgraded one, or you need to invest more in attributes. Attributes make such a huge difference in damage never forget to keep up with them or youāll notice the struggle.
Archer:
- I went 1:1 SPR:DEX during this time so I could spam Oblique lvl1 to my hearts desire. Leveling was extremely fast and easy, I farmed 500 Hanamings for the black hair in half the time any of the other classes take to farm 500. Multi Shot was really nice damage against bosses, I still max it at 5 and use it in my skill downtime when I can. Because I didnāt go Archer c2 Swift Step is very useless to me, I have it on my bars but I rarely use it at all, if ever. Full Draw was the obvious choice not to get, itās too much wasted time charging for not enough pay off in my opinion. I just figure I can do probably twice the damage it deals in that time just spamming oblique shot.
Archer-Ranger-Ranger-Ranger:
- Everything from Archer still holds true here, you still end up spamming Oblique shot for the majority of the game so I wont write about that in the later points, just remember that Oblique is pretty much youāre auto attack. even at just rank 5. As a Ranger you quickly notice that Barrage trumps all in the first two circles, High Anchoring is just another Full Draw in my opinion, wasted time charging for not enough payoff so I completely skipped out on getting it, although the 5 points in Critical Shot could be allocated to High Anchoring if you were really feeling your charge time oats. I however donāt live that life. Barrage is an insta-max for me and one of my highest invested attributes to date. Steady Aim seems like a debuff at first, but with more points itās just a full on buff, 1% attack speed- is barely even noticeable, so max away for bonus damage which visibly makes a difference in your damage output while active. Time Bomb Arrow is really horrible, 40 sum sec cool down for damage equivalent of like two or three obliques is not worth in my boat, I read it does 50% additional damage to plate armored targets which could be a good single target boss filler but meh. I was hoping that Bounce Shot would turn out good, but itās actually very weak and a mediocre AoE filler at best, most times I donāt even use it. Finally to make Ranger seems more than just BARRAGE (which it really is) you get Spiral shot, my best single target damage dealing ability from all my skill kits including Fletcher and Falconer. This skill hits so hard itās crazy, it chunks bosses, it 1 shots hard to kill mobs, most pvp Iāve done nobody survives it. If anything is to make you stick with Ranger to c3 it should be Spiral Arrow.
Archer-Ranger-Ranger-Ranger-Fletcher:
- Fletcher looked so appealing at first glance you donāt know how excited I was to get Crossfire which in the end turned out to deal so little damage and scale so poorly I dropped the skill entirely off my build because itās so useless and not even worth the mana. Barbed Arrow is Amazing, itās like baby Spiral Arrow but unfortunately is nullified on spirit type armors, like ghost mobs and stuff. I went Bodkin for the physical defense debuff, I pop it before my Spiral>Barrage damage burst. I ended in 5 points Broadhead strictly because Crossfire is trash, if they fixed Crossfire to deal real AoE damage I would reconsider but as of right now Fletcher is not the 1 circle wonder I was hoping it would be. If I were to pick something else for Rank 5 I would choose anything else, Fletcher c1 doesnāt seem that great.
Archer-Ranger-Ranger-Ranger-Fletcher-Falconer:
- Falcon doesnāt work like normal AI, needs to be summoned between each skill.
- Skills canāt over lap erasing single classes synergy with its own skills.
- Call 25s cd sux, but not so bad since all the other cdās are crazy worse.
- Perchās Range sux and you have to wait for the bird to sit for you to cast again.
- Circling would be nice if you just popped it like a normal aoe debuff and the bird didnāt have to be stuck in animation for the debuff to apply.
- Hovering is pretty much the birdās auto attack and the fact that the attacks are single target and not small scale aoe splash damage makes this skill suk but thereās nothing else.
- Pheasant is the best skill in the kit but even then the cool down is horrid.
- Hanging Shot is a movement speed buff at best, only auto attacking makes this skill useless.
I guess Iām mostly annoyed since itās just a c1 class atm, there should be flaws atm. But yea I have high hopes.
Hopes for changes in Falconer, Dream SUGGESTIONS of change:
- Make the Falcon stay with the Falconer if youāre going to keep the cool downs moderately long. There is no reason I should need to call him to my side every 25s if I also have to wait 1min, 1min40s and 75s just to cast my abilities.
- Remove Perch, itās a cool idea but itās just clunky and wouldnāt be necessary if the Falcon was with you all the time.
- Make Circling a debuff that is popped and consistent with or without the Falcon in animation. Allow this debuff to continue after commanding the Falcon to preform a different ability.
- Hovering, just make this a passive where the Falcon just focuses on hitting whatever the caster is hitting. You can remove the knockdown effect if it balances the ability a bit more, but even the single target damage would be nice.
- Pheasant is really great damage, AoE the biggest problem is the cool down. If it was reduced it could easily fill as the best/ (almost only) current damaging skill in Falconer.
- Hanging Shot, allow the synergy of letting the Caster use Falconer abilities while in Hanging Shot. Allowing us to command the bird to Pheasant down on something while being carried or having it auto attack what weāre auto attacking as well would actually turn Hanging shot from just a vroom-vroom ride to a skill actually worth putting points into for duration.
