Falconer Discussions

Alright, it seems I can’t find any discussion on Falconer so I wanted to start one myself.

I don’t have a proper build yet (Especially since they just released the new class change system) So I won’t be posting that until later.

But am I the only one that’s going to be build Sapper into Falconer, and wants to know if there are
A: Any more ranks after the 6th
B: What would be the best Stat upgrade if your going strictly into these two classes late game.

Also how do you think the new class changing system is going to affect later builds?

Rank 8 and probably Falconer rank 3, same thing for others like Necromancer…

You can see in skill details
lv15 - Attack 2480

That’s not a good argument for saying there will be a rank 8, as you can see the data for third circle class skills (and I’m pretty sure Phesant is going to be a circle 2 skill), but there are plenty of other things hinting towards that kind of system (1-8 being normal ranks, and 9-11 being hidden / ranks to allow higher ranked classes to have more circles).

With the new passives, DEX is no longer an obvious choice to pour points into [I know this firsthand], but having a health balance of STR and DEX is definitely the way to go (finding a ratio you like is the main thing). Also, grabbing a couple points of SPR and CON can help you last longer in the field, in regard to both uptime and survival.

And the new build system is mostly just going to allow us to pick up some higher ranked classes that we normally wouldn’t have been able to have gotten, due to wanting to get certain circles of lower classes (all that stuff you would have missed by going sapper 3 is now optional to grab later).

Also since the falcon is a pet. Skills that command the pet to do an attack ( like rush dog) are based on the pet stats, only way to increase it is to spend money raising the falcon attk and crit chance.

i believe most falconers built hunters or sappers first
the new progressions system allows you to cover all 3 classes

No, they’re not, since the Falcon is basically just a tool to be used for the skills. It does nothing on its own, and its damage is completely dependent on the skill level. Crit is based on the player’s stats, too. Falcons currently don’t interact with hunter skills, either.

Falconer is extremely buggy and needs a lot of work.

You sure? I could swear it was based on the falcon own stats as I’ve seem some full dex falconners and their falcons barelly critted. Hmm its very hard to tell by videos though as crit chance is still chance, I’d have to test that myself. Not being able to increase the falcon damage when the skills have such long cooldowns seems annoying.

I am very interested in playing as a falconer too, but that’s because I really wanna play a Beastmaster-like class. Therefore I’m going hunter 3 into falconer. Now the only problem is I have not seen any videos of hunter-falconers using both companion and falcon in combat and I wonder if that is possible at all. I think I’ll be splitting my stats evenly between dex and str. This will probably be my skill build up to Rank 6: http://www.tosbase.com/tools/skill-simulator/build/myyc8k66cp/

I am actually very fond of using firearms too. The Schwarzer Reiter class is thus very appealing and can be attained after hunter 3. But both classes seem to contradict in play styles as one uses the companion to attack while the other needs to be mounted to attack. This is such a pity. That leaves the falconer as the only viable class advancement after hunter 3, unless you wish to advance into a lower tier class.

I feel like the new class advancement system that allows you to advance into an earlier rank class gives more variety in terms of builds, but may not be worth skipping a higher tier class to do so.

Yes, it’s possible to use both at the same time. My falconer picked up one rank of Hunter for testing purposes. And this is true about Schwarzer Reiter - you can’t use both sets of skills without mounting / getting off your companion.

And actually @Sabin you’re kind of right, but it’s not as crucial as you think. I completely forgot until now that my falcon’s damage was pretty bad until he leveled up a bit. However, paying to increase its damage is going to have a pretty minimal effect on the overall damage, and I can confirm that the player’s stats have a much larger impact. I was critting with full dex with a level 1 falcon, but I was also slotted for crit rate in terms of gems, so that might be what differed from what you saw. However, I do think the damage went up a bit as the falcon leveled, but no where as close to the increase from my own personal stat increase or from a skill level. Also, paying for pet stat increases becomes incredibly expensive after about 30 increases (which is pretty marginal for a level 400 pet).

IMC has stated previously hidden classes will be included in the existing ranks (including the ones they have planned and we don’t have access to yet 7 and 8).

A3. The original plan was to release 10 + 1 ranks, but we are rethinking the rank mechanic. There might be 8 ranks in total with 20 hidden classes, but nothing is definite.

That doesn’t say anything about hidden classes getting their own ranks.

nothing is definite.

And my theory is that since they mentioned there are going to be hidden ranks without 3 circles, and I can confirm in the game files that there is an 11th rank (this might just be a placeholder number, but it’s there), then they’re going to have 8 “normal” ranks, in which anyone can obtain the class easily, while ranks 9-11 around going to be various hidden classes of which have certain numbers of circles to fill in the gaps to reach rank 11, while this also allows the game to balanced for people without hidden classes to still achieve the same number of total circles.

Also, when did they say what you’re implying?

Those ranks could just be old data as well because as you’ve seen they have discussed going down to 8 base ranks when the original was 10. The 11th rank might have even been a place holder location for the gm class.

“The hidden class may not occur as Rank 10 class, they may appear anywhere in the Ranks.”

it was in one of the Q&As but it was one a long time ago.

That quote was one of the ones I used to make my theory, in combination with the lower than 3 circle comment for some hidden classes.

And no, I’ve seen the current files for myself - the GM class is rank 99. There are a handful of classes that are at rank 11, and some sprinkled through rank 7 and 8.

And yes, I agree that there will probably be 8 base ranks, but 3 special ranks for picking up extra “normal” circles and hidden classes. I don’t think they’re going to be right at rank 10 (or 11) either - I think they’re going to be ranks 9-11, giving some 3 circles, some 2, and some 1.

OOO this was a theory i thought you were claiming it was fact. My bad.

No no, lol, I have literally no idea what they’re going to do. But that makes the most sense to me and provides the most balance in a game with a max base level being somewhere between 400-600.

Actually companion has its own critical rate. I believe it applies the same to Falcon/Hawk.

I’m very aware of this. But after testing the skills in-game with stat resets, I can assure you that it mostly relies on the player’s stats (for Falcons). The companion’s stats do have influence on their damage and crit rate, but this is for their auto attacks, none of which the Falcon has.
