so i was in mage tower1, just standing there for a bit, and i noticed my falcon not attack them? i thought pets auto attacked?
You need to be falconer circle 3 with pre emptive strike buff activated for your falcon to auto attack on what you are currently attacking.
Falcons do not auto attack by default

Not only that, but you also need either attack or being attacked for the falcon to retaliate. Otherwise, if you’re just standing on a map doing nothing, the falcon will just fly around doing nothing.
