Explain squire plz!

I’ve been a Squire for a while now. It made sense to me that you need mats to repair stuff, and i think its fair that you need to buy them from an npc. What took me forever to figure out is you need 1 kit for every star on the gear you’re repairing. It looks like the material requirement and the cost go up depending on the number of stars. I did the math quick, It looked like the blacksmith npc was charging 300 silver per star (per kit), and the squire master was charging 80 silver per kit.
Heres what I don’t understand though. I’ve been selling repairs titled “Cheaper than the NPC” for 140 silver per kit. So you’d think I’d be almost doubling the money i invest into these repair kits right? But somehow im LOSING money on this. I was originally planning to give free repairs to my friends, but when i found out there was a material requirement (THAT IS LEFT OUT OF THE SKILL DESCRIPTION… and measured in “dog” for some reason) I thought it was fair that I only give discounts, but I can’t even do that! I grinded my 180 CON build through 154 levels for this skill and it’s absolute garbage, I’m no better than the NPC as far as I know (I really don’t care much for the 25% chance to over repair).
Anyway, rage aside, can anyone explain why I’m losing money? Is there a hidden tax? or other passives I don’t know about?

I’m very disappointed by this, I feel like I could have been a better tank/ support if I circled peltasta again or even went corsair :frowning:

There is indeed a hidden 50% tax.

So you’ve gotta charge half the NPCs cost just to break even? Sounds terrible for both sides :frowning:
