Many people who played the Korean CBT stated Exp rates were too fast. Most of the enjoyment of the game come’s from spending time developing, learning, and adapting to your character as well as the artwork. But we still do not know if the EXP rates this last CBT are official or even if Korea has official release dates exp rates. Maybe around Open beta a better understanding of the actual EXP rates might appear, from this post as well as direct statements from IMC this CBT was for infrastructure testing and lower level information gathering.
wait if you quit most mmorpgs within a week isn’t it about time to realize that maybe you don’t like mmorpgs?
You realize that in those 6 days he only had 16 hours of sleep? That’s beyond insane and shouldn’t be a good representation of the general player base. Also you’re forgetting the leveling curve, i.e. 0-100 is shorter than 100-200 etc. Also as I side note, most of us believe the level cap is 500 because the world map shows us the highest level zone is 472. But I’ve also been hearing alot that it’s actually 600, I’m not really sure which one to believe as there’s no real concrete evidence with both of them xD
From what I see the level cap is 600 so far, but also people are able to hit 100-120 within a week’s worth of play time on our current exp standards. I honestly don’t think this game was made to be able to hit 600 within a few months with regular gameplay. (maybe later on with the ideal circumstances you may be able to power level aka tkm in a volcano~ if you know what I mean). Takes 13,229,936 exp to get to 100, which apparently only takes about 7 days to get. Quest exp keeps getting higher so I honestly never really felt a slowdown in the exp I was receiving (occasional gaps where you had to grind 5 or so levels but it was loads of fun mobbing http://www.twitch.tv/deityseiyi/v/10353882 <-- i could do this all day) So looking at this and taking quest exp into account it takes about 4-10 weeks based on how you play to get to 200, not sure if this is really a bad thing? Do people really expect to max asap and then stand around wondering what else to do within the first few months of release?
I think you’re taking it a little out of context. It’s not that people want to get to max level super fast and not have to do anything to get there. It’s just that they don’t want to grind day to day just to get 5 levels to even progress in the early game story line. Also stressing this again, getting to level 100-120 in a week was done by people who played the game practically non-stop from beginning to end of CBT1 and a good guess would be 2-3x that for any ‘normal’ person both ‘casual’ or ‘hardcore’.
I know the grind can be fun, especially when you’re just hanging with friends and chatting but not everyone does that. It would be nice if there was alternate routes to progress in level and things to do to break the monotony of grinding for several hours. It would be even nicer if they waited till you where some part into the game before they shoved a grind wall into your face. But with all this said, I know the exp rates weren’t final and where probably implemented to stop people from reaching later content as anything past 150’ish wasn’t even properly translated yet, some of the mob AI wasn’t even in yet apparently.
Just because i don’t like most mmorpgs doesn’t mean i don’t like any, out of the 20-30 i’ve tried in my life, only like 2 were actually fun to me, and those 2 were so damn fun i put countless hours into them.
You realize that in those 6 days he only had 16 hours of sleep?
You realize that you are pulling facts out of your ass right now?
Just because you have a short attention span doesn’t mean that everyone who isn’t the same as you has to ruin his life to play a game.
I’m 10 hours at work every monday-friday and sleep 8 hours in preparation for the next day of work. 2 hours are spend on eating, cooking, cleaning etc. That leaves me with 4 hours of free time to play videogames every day. Meanwhile my weekends are mainly occupied by meeting up friends.
And yet I hate high leveling rates. They make the very few time I have feel like a waste precisely because they reward me so quickly. It doesn’t feel like I’m working hard to make progress, it makes me feel like a retardchild being praised for wiping his own ass.
If I wanted instant reward while only having to offer a few clicks of effort I’d go play 90% of the modern videogames, some shitty Facebook social game or I’d go and masturbate.
Here, I’ll even help you with the latter so you have to put less effort into it

Your insults asside, my point is still valid, he did in fact spend almost all day every day playing the game only to reach lvl 104 I think it was. It was on his twitch channel (I can’t remember it so if someone can reply with it I would appreciate it, else I’ll try and search for it). Also I never said anything about an “instant reward while only having to offer a few clicks of effort”. If you want to spend 4 hours a few times in a week slowly grinding then sure that’s fine. But I and a large majority would like a little something to break the monotony of grinding for hours. It’s not gonna break the game if someone reaches max level in 2 months, who cares? It just means he spent a large portion of 2 months grinding. Part of the fun is indeed in the journey to max but isn’t that supposed to be with the story, dungeons, pvp and other such features? Not just grinding?
Found it. http://www.twitch.tv/lordstormakov/v/10211547 at 19:44:43 - 19:45:00
not everyone is a no lifer like that lol
they should make 3 servers : casual TOS, hardcore TOS and no lifer TOS lolol

Even if you are right, it still doesn’t matter. People who put a lot of time into something make progress much faster. I don’t see anything wrong with that. You operate under the assumption that the people who want to level faster are a majority and that the game should change and bend so that you people can have fun. Did you ever consider that a good amount of people actually are okay with slower leveling and welcome it? It’s just that they decide to be not vocal about it.
Because that’s the kind of expectation most people who look forward to this game would have. They know that RO was a slow level type of game and are tired of instant reward games, so Tree of Savior is like a savior to them in the literal sense. People are just fed up with getting everything handed to them.

Part of the fun is making your own story. And honestly, I haven’t seen a single person argue for more content so far, only for higher rates. So it would seem that people like grinding, they just don’t like grinding slowly. I’m sure everyone would love alternatives to grinding at the same place, we can all agree with that. But even if IMC will offer multiple grindspots for the same level range, or dungeons in order to level up at the same pace, it would still go too slowly for the people who have been wanting higher rates. This isn’t about variety or breaking up the monotony, you simply want quick rushes of endorphines in rapid succescion while not putting any work into it.
Basicly you want the game to be fun for you just to move on quickly to the next game to offer you these rushes asap, and people like me who have been waiting 10 years for a MMO that’s fun to us get ■■■■■■ over once again
making your own story ?how about you stop making up nonsense bullshjts pls, this is a freaking damn linear MMO where you follow the story not making your own
And just split the population like that? you think that’s a good idea?
But most of the current MMOs rush you to cap…
Some large assumptions you’re making here. I think I would be right in saying that the majority are indeed not happy about the exp rate and if you think they’re just the vocal minority then there’s really nothing to prove or disprove that. If people are indeed happy about them then they need to speak up. This is a beta and feedback is highly encouraged.
Making your own story is fun and all but only goes so far, you can’t exactly roleplay a story about killing a few epic bosses and/or raiding some dungeons whilst you grind for hours. I’ve seen plenty of people use suggestions such as dungeons, repeatable quests and others as effective means of improving the leveling experience so i’m not sure if you looked hard enough. And finally no I don’t want the game to be fun just for refer to my previous posts if you need proof and I don’t to level quickly and be done with the game I just want some decent content offered to me then 24/7 mob grinding as all.
I could be mistaken but as far as i’m aware it splits off mid game where you can decide where you want to go and what quests you want to do. Infact you can still do that now. Although there is a main quest line. every quest is just locked by your lvl so as long as you’re high level enough you can do whatever quests in what ever zone suits your fancy.
that got nothing to do with “making your own story”
ever played guild wars ? that’s how you supposed to “make your own story”
linear quests + hardcore grind = making your own story, interesting “journey”. Sorry i wont buy that

I wasn’t talking about this kind of story. Story in games, and especially MMOs, is worthless. If I want a good capatative story I don’t play videogames, I go and read a book. What I am talking about is the kind of story that consists of the experiences you’ve made, the people you met, the friends you’ve found, the places you discovered, the surprises and mysteries you’ve encountered, the mistakes you’ve made, and the things you’ve learned…
That’s what I mean by creating my own story. A story I can look back upon years later and say “The things I went through in this game were unique to me, and they will always have a place in my heart”
But how am I supposed to experience anything special if I’m just being led from one boring place to another? How am I going to meet people if everyone just rushes from one quest NPC to another? How am I going to learn from my mistakes if nothing I do has a lasting impact?
That’s how I feel about modern MMOs now, they are just themeparks, encouraging you to think as few as possible and avoid any kind of challenge.
It’s sickening and sad, and what’s even more sad is that people are now trying to encourage IMC games to turn this game into another generic MMO
So you mean the whole making interactive dialogue decisions is the only way to make a story and enjoy the journey? Kinda closed minded.
shut up and try guild wars
So you say all this but you are still leaning on the fact that grinding in the same place for hours on end could lead to an interesting story beyond “Man this is taking forever” aswell as talking about life like you do with friends? That’s nice and all but you can still do that while questing with people and exploring with people and dungeon running with people and completing achievements with people and even just roleplay if you wanted to. Doing that whilst grinding is probably the least best place to do it in as there’s really not much to commentate on.
