Why create a guild instead of joining one
From the bits and pieces of informations I managed to find on the subject so far, the guild system resembles the one from Ragnarok, namely there will be a maximum ammount of players (Teams I hope) in each guild, with ways to increase the number.
The limited ammount of slots per guild will make it harder to join just to check if we would fit in and I usually don’t guild-hop, usually I stick with one guild for few weeks before I finally decide I don’t belong there. This combined with other factors means that I would have to endure playing alone for who knows how many weeks, before I can finally find a group where I belong. I played for 3 days now and I already miss having someone to chat to, so taking initiative is more a necessity than an option.
Also, in the coming weeks (even months sadly) I will have enough time to spare into this project.
I am not a power-hungry attention-seeking guy who just wants to see other people tagged by the clever guild name he came up with.
What type of guild
Socialization above enything else. Meeting other human beings and interacting with them is the reason why many of us play online games, I know I do, and I know I want to play with people who agrees with me on this point. Given that there is little to no info on pvp right now (or I need one more rank in my googling skill to find something reliable) I really cannot say what our end-game is going to be, which is why I would like to have people who are just enjoying the ride for now.
Some info about me
I am in my early 30s, currently unemplyed because of health issues (which is why I have the extra free time I mentioned before). I have been playing MMOs for more than 10 years, and always avoided the hardcore crowd when I could, I enjoy games better when they don’t become a second-job (for example, during my time in WoW I was happy to finish normal raid content -the one called heroic now- before the next tier would come out).
In the past I have been officer/leader in some guilds in games like Warhammer, EvE, WoW, Ragnarok. I hate anime and anime-style graphics and I am playing ToS despite that.
What kind of players should be interested in this
As I mentioned before, socialization is key. It is the difference between a painful grind and a memorable journey (just my opinion of course, someone else will say that the difference is an efficient build), therefore I am looking for players who, like me, can’t take the lack of chat channels or early guilds anymore. People who wants to chat a bit while exploring the game.
While I do think that an awfully inefficient build makes a player a burden on the rest of the group, I don’t belive in “flavour of the month” builds, so I would like to find players who don’t mind playing with guildmates who picked one wrong circle or one wrong skill; personally I prefer to play someone with a not-so-perfect build (aka he/she messed it up but might fix it later on) who is a nice person, to hours of grinding with a ruthlessly efficient jerk who only speaks with memes and words with a “z” at the end.
I am looking for players above the age of 20, while I have nothing aganst teenagers, there is no point to deny that it is easier for people to get along if the age differnce is not too big.
The road map
Use of a third-party application/site to give us a temporary chat system. It’s already set, it’s free, can be used with a browser and it’s main function right now is to overcome the lack of chat channels in-game
Deciding the guild’s name. How this will happen I’m not sure yet, I know I want to make it democratic but I also know that if everyone has a say in it, there is no way to find a compromise.
Nominating officers. This part might be the more time consuming, because I think that a good guild is made by having a good inner circle, players who understand that being an officer is a responsability, not a priviledge, and I might have to get to know each member well enough before committing.
Creating the actual guild in game. No Eta on this, I don’t know how long it will take me to reach rank 7 and become a Mighty Templar! (just kidding of course, I know that becoming a templar will effectively waste my rank 7 class and make me more a burden than anything else)
Don’t join if:
You came up with an awesome name for a guild but can’t be arsed to waste a rank 7 subclass for a templar, and want to use my templar to make your dreams come true
For you, progression is more important than socialization
You consider yourself a pro/hardcore. Nothing wrong with it, but you would not fit in.
You like to use insults when talking to strangers and don’t care if they don’t like it. (I too use words like “female dog” or “female genitalia” to address some friends of mine, but I do it just with those who I know like it)
You are a dog person. We only want cat people.
The previous piont was a joke, I though 4 points weren’t enough so I put there a fifth to make it look like there are more restrictions, and this, the sixth, to rectify that; which makes it look that there are even more restriction and that the guild will have very high standards, which is not the case since I will be part of it.
TL,DR
If this was too long to read for you, you should move along.
