Energy Bolt + Sleep... "Combo"

So, I am Wizard C3 and have 15 points in Energy Bolt and the attribute to deal bonus damage on sleep enemies… Why is the damage so underwhelming?

I did a test, auto attacks from my staff deals an average of ~500 damage, the combo of Energy Bolt + Sleep deals a whopping 900 total damage… Two of my autos does more damage than this combo, why even set it up?

Since the Reflect Shield nerf, it’s hard to even consider maxing anything else in the Wizard tree…

Does this get better at higher levels? I hardly use Energy Bolt, even when it max, the damage just straight out sucks.

Thoughts?

Just get level 15 sleep , it’s godly at any point of the game.

well, it has splash, you can cast in on move and mid-jump, it has low CD. So overall it is a good filler skill (instead of auto attack) while your Magic Missile is on CD.
