Enemies doing dramatically more damage now?

Hello!

It has been nearly a year since I’ve played ToS. I came back to see what the new combat system looks like… and my Hoplite went from taking mostly 1 damage from anything that wasn’t magic or poison yesterday to taking hundreds of damage from everything.

Am I missing something? This is very discouraging.

All I know is they’re doing dramatically less damage at lvl 300 range. I lose like 5% of my HP a hit instead of 50%

The attack and defense formulas have been completely reworked so that defense is not an all-or-nothing gambit. It’s not realistic to reduce an enemy’s damage to 1, but it is also less likely for them to floor you in one or two hits.

They made it so you don’t take 1s or get 100% destroyed. Because it was one or the other, not in between. You shouldn’t be getting bodied by mobs too hard.

So basically my hoplite went from only needing potions in emergencies now needs potions all the time? Great.

Thank god they are doing damage now. Before was impossible to die from lv1 to lv 280 and impossible survive alone after lv300. The damage was so inconsistent that the game either was too easy or too hard to be considered a game. This also makes potions more important, moving the economy a little bit and making the game challenging~ish.

It’s tree of potion chugging now. A bit inconvenient but whatever. Mobs just doing straight up nothing if you had enough defense was retarded. Maybe they need to adjust the curve some on the high end because it seems to get to a point where you need like 10 def to reduce damage by another 1 point.
