I have decided to go cryomancer. My questions are the following:
Here is my current planned build http://www.tosbase.com/tools/skill-simulator/build/hjbltv4xf3/. Would it be better to skip linker altogether and go wiz > cryo > cryo > elex3? Or is the linker a better choice to increase damage output?
What skills should I use as an elementalist. I know electrocute is a staple since I went cryo. What else is good?
I’ve had the same issues and i’ve picked up Cryo>Linker over Cryo>Cryo.
You’ll end up doing around 30% less damage with your cryo spells because you didn’t pick up Cryo 2 and the spells will fall off quickly by around level 65, but the linking is always going to be useful no matter what you do.
To be honest, i don’t know how i feel about Cryo for Elementalist because freezing isn’t that great in gneeral and you only have ONE lightning spell.
If freezing were longer and you had several lightning spells, sure, okay. But as it is, you are basing your entire build on one spell, which is actually bugged at the moment too and doesn’t get the damage bonus from INT, as far as i’ve heard.
The reason why freezing isn’t that great, is because it has a 3-4 second duration only, and electro has a few seconds cast time, so half the time due to lag you might not be able to even combo it properly into your freeze.
Also freezing doesn’t work on Bosses, so doing bosses with Cryomancer is also going to be a pain and brings little benefit.
The only reason why you would want to pick-up cryo is maybe for PvP, freezing is great in PvP, i’ll give you that.
But in PvE, you can only freeze normal monsters and lets be honest, they kinda melt without even having to bother stacking up damage against them.
EDIT: Also linking doesn’t share status effects, so you won’t be freezing the linked mobs all at the same time through the link either.
