Economy - The most important thing

I created this topic as an attempt to help improve the game

But some assh’le ( rofldat ) showed up and start making this topic a 15 days fight topic

Now is just a toxic topic. thanks to the low life loser: rofldat

I don’t understand the point of your post. You are discussing something subjective. What if I like big numbers? What if IMC want a better money granularity? With your system, even 1 coin would be too much for paying storage access.

Happy to have you in this community

I’m quite blurry with the post actually. According to your ‘right way’, it’d make everything in the game looks expensive as hell with much effort to give even for potion. Sure it can be valuable, it can be precious, but spending them would make the player think twice on a very basic item.

Doesn’t make you any difference though if you are gonna play the game, just saying.

You think economy is important then you use Ragnarok as a example? You know Ragnarok has one of the most disastrous economies in a MMO right? And they also suffer from big number syndrome.

Basically as much as i love Ragnarok i think its a poor example for the topic unless its a what not to do example.

There’s a much simpler way to make the sums in shops feel less threatening and blown out of proportions - separate the single currency into “copper-silver-gold-platinum”. It does feel more rewarding to finally accumulate enough to get a gold/platinum coin than to collect 10,000 generic silver coins, gives more of a “milestone reached” feel to money farming.

Depending on the server, the economy gets crazy fast in RO… :disappointed:

Dude, it is just an example. Dont take things literaly.

All i am saying is that they should TRY to make digits smaller as possible, you know? Inside the POSSIBLE ZONE.

O so this thread isn’t really health of the economy which is proportion of earnings to cost. Its more of a avoid big number syndrome thing?

Thanks a lot man. that’s very nice of you.

It’s about doing everthing possible to make money look more valuable, just like ragnarok was in it’s early days.

Not quite sure how making numbers smaller will do anything to increase the value of the currency.
Giving the sensation that something seems to be worth a lot doesn’t seem to do anything about the inflation.

I get your point… but I don’t think it matters much as far as actual economy is concerned.

p.s. there are problems associated with making it look ‘valuable’ in the way you described.

This clears a lot up about your example you should edit this into your initial post because back then yea money was tough but now the economy is a disaster lol. And i think when people read ragnarok they think of its most current state which is a mess.

I don’t believe it. I am sure they can do better. Early times ragnarok did, so can they.

This used to drop in payon from the bats before they were ungodly powerful for lvl 12 lol. Like i said ragnarok in its current state is a mess and a bad comparison. But i do see where your coming from on the price points. we also have to consider ragnarok was different because each mob would drop 1-3 junk items where ToS is not like that.

I thik you are the kind of player who likes High rate private server, and is use to abusive amount of digits.

This topic will never make sense to you, because it was made by a low rate lover. (me)

My bad on the topic of zeny and jellopys i was thinking RO comparison still

eventually, it will cost u millions or billions for good weapons and gears.
but since the common currency is silver, i guess there will be gold/diamond for high value trades

inflation is almost sure to happen in this game, if using cbt mechanism

Yea it is kind of hard to say were the game sits like on the Icbt items were very affordable but we also did not get as far in the game and the population was smaller. But i could understand avoiding big number syndrome there is no need to attach big numbers to things to make them seem like they are worth something since its all relative.

In this game, items buyed by money aren’t the most important or the better ones, because a lot of things! You have the potential that decreases with trading (so trading items between players isn’t that rentable). Also, the items that monsters drop are much better than the ones you can buy to npc (and buying those items to another players isn’t an option in most cases, again, because of the potential).

So here’s the thing: If you want to get better items, you have to get them by yourself (gems and equipment at least). This game is not about economy (not at least the item economy). You have other stuff to do, like the pardoners or alchemists, who can sell “services” more than items.

I don’t know about you but my life is pretty awesome. The thing I like to do on a MMO is not being millionaire or famous, but do stuff you can’t do IRL (like exploring an unknown world, hearing fantastic stories, having an adventure with your friends, go out to kill some monsters, meet people from another corner in the world…)

I think, in the end, the players will be setting the economy. So we won’t be able to see how the economy is till then.
