Easy Mode/ i-Win /FOTM Swordsman Class/Build

  1. What do you guys feel is the Easy Mode/ i-Win /FOTM Swordsman Class(es)/Build(s) in general?
  2. What do you feel is the Easy Mode/ i-Win /FOTM Tankiest Class(es)/Build(s)?

Please state the class first, then explain if possible. Try to avoid saying “it depends” and then not actually stating a class. You can say “it depends” after you state the class heheh. I guess an easy way to put this, is when I say Easy Mode/iWin/FOTM Swordsman class what is the first class/build that comes to mind?

Disclaimers: (Note: I put these disclaimers here to try to prevent the topic from being derailed into a conversation about “there is no Easy Mode class” “why do you want to be easy mode” etc etc)

  1. I know all classes are subject to change so what is iWin/FOTM/easy mode now might not be at release date
  2. I know there are many factors and “it depends” is one of the easiest answers to give in any game
  3. I have been playing MMOs for over 10 years and yes there almost always is an Easy Mode/ I-Win /FOTM class OR most dominant class, even though people’s degree of this term varies. years and years of MMO experience taught me to first roll a main as the class that is most dominant and easy, then roll a 2nd char with a class you think is “interesting”.
  4. I know there are classes that counter other classes and no one class can outperform all other classes at everything, i am not asking this, i am asking in general which do you feel is Easy Mode / I-win for the Swordsman role
  5. I know everyone can flame me about wanting to take the easy road but see point 3.
  6. I know there is no PVP, this is a question about PVE

Wellp… not considering KCBT still going on and the patches…

From ICBT DPS, it was Swordsman > Highlander > Barbarian C3 > Doppelsoldner
For the Tankies class, it was Swordsman > Peltasta C3 > whatever you want.

 opinions opinions…

Also welcome to the forums.

^ would be my theory craft for a team pvp based swordsman // need more infos on the squire class tho to tell wich gives more benefits food or weapon/armor repair

Your job is pretty easy - you are a one time only well timed CC combo machine - just aim your arrest well (after a sleep for example) and keep those enemies where they belong - good to follow up on your arrest pretty much every class could - important thing to turn on your pain barrier before you arrest the enemies - other than that work as a counter vs your enemies melees you got a ton of single target CC to lock a single guy down pretty easly and fast for your party - if you see an enemy melee is chasing on your strong arms - protect your dps! and CC him till death

c3 swordsman sounds tough but it’s needed - a level 10 restrain and level 15 pain barrier are just too good to be ignored - i cant find any better use in the other classes (without leaving the rodelero who is quite important)

Ez mode is when you pick Barbarian.
Stuff like this:
Swordsman/Highlander/Barbarianx3/Doppelsöldner
Swordsmanx2/Barbarianx3/Doppelsöldner

You can bunny hop, you deal damage without having to pay attention to much and you can destroy groups of mobs without having to wait for CD’s.
Note that easy mode is not equal to overpowered. But you will have it easier than the other classes in most regards.

i havent been able to play the game actually. Was wondering if in this game’s class structure, its not super complex and you just straight shoot to the highest rank and the actual 80 classes are just progressive in route to the top rank of your particular class? i.e. there arent going to be level 200+ hoplites or anything because the higher class ranks, rank 5 & 6 vs are far more superior that it would be pointless to remain as a lower ranked class?

is your avatar from Sword Art Online? (Kirito and Asuna?)

Answering for iEden, that’s Toradora.

And the class structure isn’t that complex but there are multiple ways to build your character. If you go to a skill simulator you can Theorycraft multiple builds of classes.

Generally in the KCBT, everyone eventually ends up as Rank 4 C3 Rank 5 C2 or Rank 6 C1 because that is how you are supposed to end up as however, their previous classes are their foundation and is what makes the end game different for everyone. It’s not the end that makes you what you are but how you got there … I feel corny now. I need to feel more potato.

edit: bolding stuff

As Garrnett said my avatar is from Toradora, my favorite anime

Answering your question:

One of ToS’s most interesting points is that you can be the same class as your friend and have a totally different skill set which leads you to play a different role on parties. It’s all about what build your character on, for instance:

This will be my character on future closed betas, open beta and release version:

Wizard > Cryomancer > Psychokino C3 > Alchemist

Now let’s say a friend of mine plays a character like this:

Wizard > Pyromancer > Linker C2 > Chronomancer > Alchemist

Are we the same? Of course not. See? We both may be Alchemists but i can’t do what he does and vice-versa. The game also is going on a direction where you don’t lose anything by being different which is nice because people will be less tempted on finding an optimal class path to take.

-I would like to Tank end game content as a party’s MT (unless there aren’t end game raids? or is a MT even needed in this game?)
-In the event I can’t find a group, I would like to be able to solo exp fairly quickly.

  1. what do you guys recommend as a build?
(i.e. be able to be a Main Tank for end game content for a group, but also solo my way through the game without it being incredibly slow)

  2. can this build that was mentioned kill mobs fast? “Squire C2 after Peltasta C3 you can be a well-supplied moving fortress” (side question, do i really need to be able to repair stuff on the go? is there that much depreciation of gear to need this utility? why not put the final spec lines into offense or defense? is this utility skill that important?"

  3. someone mentioned a barb build above, but I’m guessing you need to do sword/shield if you want to be the MT in end game content?

  4. was mentioned above “For the Tankies class, it was Swordsman > Peltasta C3 > whatever you want”, what do you guys suggest for the “what ever you want” class?

(thanks for the info, keep in mind i haven’t played the betas, though i want to)

  • I’m pretty sure that there will be raids. I suppose MT’s will be required to run things smoothly around Lv 300-400, but i can’t say 100% if tanks will be a must in every party.

  • You not being able to find a party is EXTREMELY unlikely, but you never know, chances are not zero.

1 - I think one of the following builds might suit your needs. Here you go:

Build 1 - Well-Supplied Moving Fortress: This build provides good offensive skills for a good amount of damage and skills that combined with your items and stats makes you virtually invincible. Uses Sword and Shield. There are a few things about this build that could be changed because some skills doesn’t provide enough information yet.

Build Breakdown

Swordsman

Thrust and Bash - Good skills for damage in the early game. Since you’re going to tank you don’t need Gung Ho or Concentrate.

Pain Barrier - 5 points on this just because there aren’t any other useful skills to put points on. 1 point gives you 15secs duration and the other 4 just 1 sec each, so, yeah >.>

Peltasta

Umbo Blow and Butterfly - Your main damage skills in mid-late game, if they get on cooldown you can attack using Thrust and Bash but their damage won’t be as good. Umbo Blow have some fantastic attributes that will power it up pretty good so don’t forget to get them.

Swash Buckling, Guardian and High Guard - Your main tanking skills. Swash Buckling draw enemies’s attention to you, Guardian increase your Physical Defense while decreasing you Physical Damage and High Guard change to a Shield in Front stance increasing a lot your Block value and decreasing your Attack by 50% and Critical by -100 (On Level 10). Use these skills to protect your party, very counterproductive when playing solo. High Guard have an excellent attribute to use along with Umbo Blow, it’s damage increase by 250% at Attribute Lv.1 and Lv.2 onwards provides 20% more per level, these bonuses only apply when using High Guard stance that halves your total attack so this only makes your damage be enough to draw aggro.

Squire

Arrest - Helps you on your tanking role by binding enemies and making them stop moving for a few seconds.

Repair Weapon, Repair Armor, Repair - Utility skills that restore and increase total durability of your and your party’s gear.

Install Basecamp and Install Food Distribution Table: Provides awesome buffs for you and your party, must have skills.

Build 2 - War Tank : This build drops Squire C2 for Corsair and Doppelsoldner leading to more damage that leads to more aggro. Your defensive skill get better as well.

Build Breakdown

Swordsman and Peltasta C3

Same drill as Build 1, except this time your defensive skills will be better and you won’t rely on their attacking skills in mid-late game too much.

Corsair

Iron Hook, Keel Hauling - It’s your Capture and Drag tool set. Use Iron Hook to lock an enemy on the ground and then Keel Hauling to pull it on your direction. Might be helpful to save party members from dangerous situations.

Unlock Chest - Yeah, just because it’s there you know, so, why not?

Doppelsoldner

Punish - Your most powerful skill. Stab knocked down enemies while they’re still on the ground, HUGE damage.

Mordschlag - Good damaging skill and i believe knocks enemies down so you can combo this with Punish for great damage.

Double Pay Earn - Makes you receive 3x more damage (can be reduced to 2x through attribute) but drop rate and xp increases by 2x if you defeat the enemy within the set attack counter.

For example: Say that in level 5 you have 10 strikes to kill enemies; every enemy you kill before these 10 strikes end will give you 2x more exp and their drop rate will be doubled as well.

You can also go Squire instead of Corsair and then go Doppelsoldner for more utility on Rank 5 and damage on rank 6.

2 - Yeah, i think you’ll be able to kill mobs on a decent pace.

Side Question Answer: If you go Squire the only choice you have is to spend points on repairing skills; it’s a good way to earn some money tho. When you die, all your gear’s durability deacrease by 30% of its total amount if i’m not mistaken, so if people die 3 times on a boss fight or while grinding they have to go back to town to repair, but if you have these skills you can just set up a shop and people will pay you to repair their stuff.

3 - For MT yes, sword and shield. But Barbarians aren’t squishy, they can take some damage. All comes down to skills tho, as a Peltasta C3 you have defensive skills that makes you way more resistent.

4 - Check Answer number 1.
