Earth Tower fantasies. What creative floors do you want to see?

Our Solmiki group was discussing how uncreative a lot of Earth Tower is. And how there could be soooo much more in terms of interesting/creative floors.

A couple of ideas that came up that I like:

Platforming stages. Jumping gaps, climbing moving platforms, the floor is lava.
Maze stages. With each member of the party needed to press switches to let other members get through sections of their maze.
Puzzle stages. Just look at Crystal Maze or various gameshows that have existed for years for examples that can be fun or interesting for an entire group to participate in.

Totally stole a couple of those from party members but I’ll leave some out and let those people suggest their own ideas. What other creative ideas have people here had?

(Probably a good idea not to suggest anything truly evil here, in case they actually do implement it)

More bossfloors
stronger bosses with fun mechanics, and most certainly not knockdown spams
multi boss fights
less floors in general
make it weekly instead of daily
maybe make it a 10man raid with increased difficulty

they should add a new tower. sky tower, with all that. jumping around and puzzels, with easy bosses with loads of time watsing abilities. sounds fun. like a zelda level.

I think the design of ET - that is, being a single tower with circular floors – is a constraint to variety. It could have been more castle like. Rooms with doors that slam shut behind you. Different size / shaped rooms for different challenges. Perhaps more than one exit opening once a room is complete, forcing the team to make a choice between different challenges; each one promoting different setups. Occasional corridors / stairs between each one that could contain platforming elements.

Some more ideas:

  • A fun twist. There should definitely be a raging popolion in there somewhere.

  • Environmental Hazards, i.e. Crumbling floors; the arena getting smaller the longer the boss attacks. Moving floors; Perhaps the inner circle rotating one way and an outer circle rotating the other, with boss attacks or environmental hazards to dodge. Or even just lava at two sides of the room when fighting a boss.

  • Turn all players into monsters for a floor and have them clear out mobs. Would probably need some other mechanic to make this work.

  • Fighting against yourself - a clone team mirroring the team’s setup to fight.

  • Titles as rewards for progress / good performance.

These type of threads are like a list of things that probably half of it won’t happen. Their track record is just…bad.

They did mention something about future open field GvG, but can the game sustain the frame rates?

Yeah, bad, I agree with you.

I agree completely. I feel like tossing every aspect of ā€œthis is the thing you do when you reach max levelā€ into 1 thing (and an instanced ā€˜away from the rest of the world’ thing at that…) is the poorest design an MMORPG can make.

I’d like to see a variety of content in the open world that is meaningful outside of hunting grounds’ kill for 8 hours to maybe get something you need materials to get equipment upgrades.

ET is fine as 1 aspect of end game but there definitely needs more variety, and some of it to not be instanced away from other players. Not all end game needs to offer better equipment to make your character more godlike, that just creates power creep.

Just a small variation, I’d like to see dps checks in wich we needed to kill less mobs, like 20, wich spawned 4-5 at a time but were HUGE meatwagons.

It sounds really dumb but well so is the rest of ET.
