Dragoon2 - Cata vs Hopsair - PvP

So, now that Dragoon C2 gets dethrone skill ( holds enemys in place, easy to land ) it seems like non cata builds could be viable for PvP as well.

*Dethrone skill tests:

I have a pelt>hop2>corsair that I left behind, I’m thinking of maybe taking doppel>dragoon for PvP (5v5only).

What do you guys think ? Cata still the only viable path for PvP dragoon ?

cataphract is a pvp class, don;t take it for pve.

I have a hoplite3 still hanging, and i was thinking of recycling him for PvP. Was thinking of going Corsair Dragoon2. iron hook + Dethrone combo. Don t know if it will work. But basicly it will be Sw>Pelt>Hopli3>Corsair>Dragoon2

the only problem with builds like that is that if I was an archer/mage/cleric I would be circle strafing you/bunny hopping and kiting you like crazy and you don’t really have the means to melee pressure me. Dethrone is a BIG improvement but do you really think you got what it takes to land the hook/dethrone on some ranged guy who is playing it safe/cheap?

isn t iron hook the goal to reach the distance gap? Also I can use long stride to come closer I guess. I don t know I don t have any corsair yet

Long stride will not do what you hope for. It knocks them out of your attacking range.

Meh I guess i ll stay with my Cata and leave this Hopli for PvE

I don’t know what to think about dethrone skill against everything else.
Taking a rank just for this skill alone (in a cata build) seems to be more good than going Lancer for pvp, and based in the presentation they did (about rank 8 new clases),lancer is the pvp choice while dragoon is a mix between pvp and pve with the new skill. Atleast thats what they try to sell but seems faraway from reality.

I think that they will rebalance these 2 ranks, just because they wont be used for the real design purpose. Lancer just seems underwhelming compared to dethrone, atleast in his first rank. We all know that pvp is all about range and CC and dethrone gives both with an addition of pretty low CD,2 overheats and a damage enough to burst squishy characters (even with CON) without any single point in STR and everything in CON/DEX with an incredible accuracy.

In the other hand lancer gives a great damage, target modifiers (serpentine rank 2 too) and a magic aoe breaking skill (but with high CD), also a good buff based on block pen and block, with skills with critical chance and we must remember that basics from lancer can knockback (30% chance i think). But in my opinion it isn’t enough compared to bring noob CC (wizard tactics) without an important CD.

What do you think? Dethrone will be nerfed? What status ailment Level have the dethrone’s bind effect?

Your basic skill combo in pvp will be like:
Dethrone snipe>(if still alive continue)>Hook>Stride>ThrowSpear(bind) to ad infinitum till the poor sod dies.
Bash(knockdown), UmboBlow(stun, no knockdown) and DustDevil can be your filler CC once Hook duration runs out
Since it’s pvp you’ll likely be using 1hnd spears+offhand/shield for the Hop3’s medium size bonus damage.

LongStride is indeed quite tricky but most Hop skill have enough range now to reach the knocked back target, but this is fixed with IronHook, if hook connects you’ll be facing the target and he’ll be knocked back directly in front of you where your skill can connect without breaking Hook.
This is of course speaking the game doesn’'t bug and lag you and your target’s positioning after knockback.
