[DRAGOON] Which weapon do you prefer, 1H Spear + Sub weapon or 2H Spear?

Hi All,

I need help in choosing which equipment should I use for Medium and Large Type Monsters. Below are the ones I currently have:

For Medium-Type Monsters:
1H + Sub weapon:
Maga Spear + Karacha
Maga Spear + Venom

2H Spear:
Plunger

For Large-Type Monsters:
1H + Sub weapon:
Brandish + Karacha
Brandish + Venom

2H Spear:
Catacombs Pike

My Class Path:
Swordsman > Peltasta > Hoplite > Hoplite > Hoplite > Doppel > Dragoon

Please help as I want to know which one deals more damage than the other. Thank you!

2 handed for bosses.
1 handed for normal mobs and pvp.

Since the majority of the enemies are normal size, just pick a one handed and a sub weapon or good shield. Catacombs seems better than pumbl, and i heard that venon is stronger than karach if you cant equip xbow (swords, wizs and clerics).

Thank you for your reply. Just to confirm, so you’re saying I should use Maga Spear + Venom for Medium-Type (Mobs), then Catacombs Pike for Large-Type (Boss)? Any justification on how you’ve come up with these? Thanks!

Plunger has a decent feature. It deals both piercing and striking damage plus its cheap to craft and has poison atk. It’s also easy to drop. Unfortunately, the Decay debuff isn’t working or it would work even better. The description says it lowers the enemy HP so it either reduces the max HP of the target or works like a poison.

For PvP you need a two-hander for 40% block penetration, even more in GvG where stone skin has not been nerfed.

So you suggest I should use 2H weapon (Plunger) for Medium-Type? How about for Large-Type, any thoughts?

Yes.

  • Catacombs pike for large types ( will also benefit from dragoon’s mastery - 20% large type damage using two-handed spears )
  • Plunger for PvP ( if you want/need the 40% block pen )
  • Maga Spear + Venom for PvE ( medium types ) and PvP ( if you don’t need the block pen = duels )

Thoose are the ones I can think of right now.

Thank you for your inputs here, sir. So Catacombs Pike is really much better than Brandish + Karacha/Venom when it comes to Large Types (Boss) huh? Even with this class path?

I don’t know if dragoon’s mastery increases your overall damage ( including skill base damage ) or just patk maybe someone here can test that.

Maga spear + karacha = 198 + 294 (on medium) + 153 fire damage ( fyi ele damage can’t crit ) = 645 + patk on medium size/ 351 on large types

Catacombs = 412 + 188 (on large) = 600 + patk , 600 vs 351 without the mastery thats gives + 20%, so no matter how the mastery will be aplied catacombs will allways pull ahead on large types and don’t forget the 40% block pen ( if you are cata ofc).

Actually, I’m choosing between Brandish + Karacha and Catacombs Pike.

Brandish + Karacha Dagger = 206 + 322 (on large types - Brandish) + 153 Fire Damage (Karacha Dagger) = 681 PATK on Large Types ??

Catacombs = 412 + 188 (on large types) + 20% bonus damage (is this 20% of 600 PATK???) on Large and Boss type (Two-handed Spear Mastery: Big Game Hunter attribute) = 720 PATK on Large Types ??

Are my calculations correct? :neutral_face:

Slight nitpick: Fire Damage (Karacha Dagger) isn’t P.ATK. It also can’t crit, so it doesn’t benefit from Crit Damage or the 150% modifier on critical attacks. Your calculations look pretty accurate otherwise.
