Lancer is the best pvp swordy class. As cata is right now. “Top DPS” is about having the right weapon (spear), bonus to large enemies (Dragoon) and debuff (Spear Lunge, Serpentine). In PvP, people won’t stand still taking hits to death like bosses do.
Dethrone man. From what i can see lancer is anti magic, anti mount, anti shield. But dragoon2 could very well be the anti lancer.
dragoon 2 is not a pvp class, the skills are stationary. Every singe 1 of lancer’s skill are pvp
all the attributes everything is aimed towards pvp.
The goal is to be THE BEST PVP against evyerone
lancer is better against wizards, its better against archers and its better against cleric
maybe a dragoon c2 can 1v1 lancer, but can a dragoon c2 knockdown enemies with basic attacks? can he destroy magic circles?
i think lancer better against wiz and cleric but dragoon will fare better against archer and swordies.
Dethrone is just a way to deal damage while hooking someone. Unless you can one shot archers with it, I don’t see much point since Hop2 gives you Long Stride (and Spear Lunge) so you can jump onto enemies.
Dragoon won’t work in PvP unless people stand still.
Hop is terrible in PvP.
Dont underestimate dethrone. It could be a game changer for swordie PvP.

being good against others swordies doesn’t help you since the best pvps are wizards
that means lancer is better for pvp because he is better agaisnt everyone
as i said again, every single 1 of lancer’s skills and kit is PVP
having 1 ranged skill does not make dragoon better for pvp, do you realize how much CC lancer have access to?
You need to take a 2nd look at lancer skills, lancer got high range skills, he got gap closer dash skill and a lot of CC
dragoon c2 will not ever be able to be better at pvp than a lancer. Not against archers, not against swordies and definitely not against wizards and clerics (Who are the best pvp out there)
Nerfed or not, that’s a good question, to which we can’t tell the answer yet.
But as of now, serpentine’s attribute is great for both solo bossing & party bossing as long as you follow a spear build, regardless of ranks.
Take it as some core skill such as spear lunge, Dethrone on the other hand might become “meh” or bad in the future, the same goes for all skills with low multi hits and raw value alone. (but that will probably take 2 ranks from now)
If you want PVP, Sword3Cata3Goon2 will probably fit your needs the most, but I can say that it won’t really stay that good forever.

Also, friendly reminder that Dragoon C1 sucks ass in PVP, at least for me.
in pvp i find dragoon c1 skills good only if you land CC
you can land a good earth wave and then use dragontooth/serpentine as a follow up and with a 60% restrain they will be stunned for sure and they really are great at 1 shotting people, i find it great against warlocks because of the range
but as a main class by itself dragoon probably sucks for pvp all together.

Yes Catagoon is best for pvp, yes high dex high con is a must for the build, yes Lancer will be the best swordman rank8 for pvp because of the variety of skill to use against mages, archers and clerics.

some people go doppel with sword 3 for pvp, still doesn’t make doppel a pvp class.
lancer is a class that is specialized for pvp,
maybe you want to get dragoon c2 thats fine go ahead but for someone who wants to maximize pvp lancer is just better.
Even tho goon c1 sux for pvp now, goon c2 looks to change that.
goon c2 could be the new PvP - DPS
and lancer could be the new PvP - CC
lancer kinda like cryo3 kino3 whereas Goon2 is the wiz3 ele3 WL. both good, at different roles.
it’s some kind of 1 dimensional thinking, that because dragoon is currently not a PvP class, that it can not become one at circle 2.
Currently Dethrone does 16k in TBL after reductions with 16s cooldown and 2 overheats and blind status effect. This is enough to roll almost everyone.
It is actually bind.
Bind is even better. Sets them up to eat another dethrone LOL. After the second dethrone hits, hit them with a 3rd dethrone and then just go over and finish up with serpentine -> RUSH.

and it’s consider for mele attack type so can bypass sage misille hole
