Dragoon build - Hoplite c2 or barb c2?

Hello, I’m planning on making a new character with the following build:
Swordman->highlander->barbarian->hoplite->hoplite->doppel->dragoon
I have a few questions if someone could share their experience that would be great.

First of all Is barbarian C1 good at all? what atributes are available?

Now about the title, I’m considering grabbing barb c2 instead of hoplite c2, because everyone says that seism is really good, my question would be, what does the hoplite c2 skill that makes enemies vulnerable to pierce attacks do in pratice?

Also are there any game breaking barb c2 atributes?

I’m considering hoplite c2 because I already have a hoplite and I have a lot of respect for stabbing pierce and finestra.

I could level to dragoon with 1h spears or 2h swords and eventually use 2h spears.

Your build its kinda strange. Dragoon class using 2h spear or 1h spear, why are you picking highlander and barbarian at c2 and c3?

Are you going for pvp? coz your build its definitely not pve. If you want go pve, try change highlander to peltasta for taunt skill, and change barbarian to hoplite c1 to get finestra max level.

if you want go full dps, try change highlander to swordman for longer skill duration and more dmg (gung ho and concentrate) and then change barbarian to hoplite c1.

ps. these builds its not for pvp.

Whats the point in take highlander c1? Cartar stroke will bring nothing to you in end game so highlander c3 or nothing. Barb c1 is ok since you will get an amazing cc with helm chopper + cleave.
Change highlander for peltasta will bring you more utility.
Hop c3 is a waste. Finestra 10 give you full time. Spear throw is good but throw long distance will lower your attack for some time.
Lose barb stun for finestra 15 and spear throw not worth. Spear throw has a ungly and slow animation

I see your point, I didn’t read that crossguard was 2handed sword only, I thought: “Hey! More block comboing with finestra and enemies blocked become vulnerable to pierce damage? Hell ya!” But my dreams were shattered :frowning: Probably gonna go with swordman c2, swashbuckling is good early game but monsters are agressive lategame anyway and the buff goes away if you equip another weapon, its not being useful for my cata at least.

Kascly if you dont know about dragoon class, plz dont talk like that. hoplite c3 its pretty useful, you get additional 50 crit rate (50 dex) and max level for stabbing. And who said pve dragoon build gonna put skill point to spear throw? Do you even dragoon?

Pvp scenario you will need at least 150 dex unless you love missing attacks.
Finestra 15 haha.

The questions still stands, hoplite c2 or barb c2? Is Seism as good as everyone claims? I don’t want finestra just for crits, hoplite for me is more about stabbing than finestra, but the splash attribute makes finestra great, even then I can have it on every time double pay/earn comes off of cooldown.

I’m not aiming particularly at PvE or PvP, I wouldn’t consider any non swordman c3 for PvP… I’m basically playing this instead of Path of Exile for now.

Stat build will be 1 str = ,5 dex = 0,25 con or 100 str 50 dex 25 con basically

Seism is a huge aoe with pretty good damage.
Well hoplite is a good boss killer but in mobbing is a pain. Barb very good in mobbing and average in boss content

Spear lunge makes enemies take that 50% bonus damage from pierce is that correct?

Yes. With that you can “evade” penalty in cloth armor

true, but you can easily solo all quests in all maps under lv 200 by taking hoplite c2. and you dont even need grind befor you reach 200. in late game content you are not playing alone, you are always with party and that means someone going to pull together mobs for you, only you need to do its stabb stabb stabb and stabb.

Stabb had a bad hitbox config. Hop are not a good aoe like dopp and barb

you are right, but i think there is dopp class in his build isnt it? stabbing have short range but what happen when you playing with a linker? as i said you are not going to grind befor you reach 200, and its pretty easy to finish all quests by youself.

But i din’t saw many linker in end game content.
But his doubt is take barb or hop. I said him my point so he must chose

I’m not sure why everyone constantly relates finestra to giving you dex. I think its very misleading for new comers, and also a poor analogy. Finestra gives you crit rate, increases block and lowers evasion. So to say finestra 15 = 150 dex, thats not appropriate. It should be more accurate to say Finestra 15 = 150 crit rate. If you are worried abt missing attacks in pvp, finestra does nothing to help that. Dex provides crit rate, accuracy and evasion. Thats why people suggest investment of dex for pvp.

If its pve you are concerned abt, the reason they say full str is because accuracy is of no concern in pve. Finestra 15 will give good amount of crit rate therefore you can choose to dump str if you wish to.

Regards to OP qns, I highly suggest Hoplite mainly due to Spear Lunge (+50% to pierce) which is considered gamebreaking to me under the context of swordsman dps (Don’t compare to other classes). I have a barb 2, I felt the damage fall off really hard at when I did the 175 dungeon. But it comes with a possible chance to stun. If I could start over I would have gone hoplite, thats my personal opinon.
