Dragoon build check

Right now mainly undecided on the dopple and dragoon skills such as double pay earn/mord and dragon soar/gae bulg. I’m currently at c2 hoplite with finestra maxed out and 1 points into lunge and stride for utility.

I originally wanted c3 corsair but after some investigation I believe it’s underpowered right now.

As for stats, I’m going 4:2:1 STR:CON:DEX based on recommendations by Autentist.

I think your skill distribution is fine, but are you planning to use geras spear with that lv 5 spear throw? Most hop3-doppel-drag buillds I see left Spear throw at 1, and 4 more points into pierce.

And max DPE, I’m not quite sure, you can invest points in Mordschlag for some strike type damage

I’m planning on using spear throw a lot, both in PvE and PvP. I have some strategies planned for how to utilize it in PvE and PvP both for damage/utility.

As for mord, I’ve heard it is kinda bad to use in PvP (which is probably the only time you’d want to use it) since it knocks the target too far away (sounds like the same problem as umbo blow)

Meanwhile, DPE is great to use for more exp/drops on mission bosses from what I heard. 1 hit with gae bulg and 4 hits with spear throw should be able to secure the 2x exp/drops.

relying on DPE for that is completely hard, you’ll probably be able to do it with gae bulg. But 1 or a few more points is enough to benefit from shinies.

reading what you’ve said though it seems that you want to pvp more, your build is one of the few top tier pve builds for swordsman classes but on pvp it rarely works

Yea, I get that, but I think people haven’t really tried to experiment with this build in PvP much because all the PvP people are rolling with their cata3 leaving noone to experiment on other builds.

There is potential synergy for PvP here. For example, close gap, throw a spear, and if bind hits rush over, pain barrier + spear lunge -> stabbing.

that’s where the problem is, and it doesn’t stop there, it’s only similar to arrest. No one’s stopping you from experimenting, but you’ll experience the problem of what most non-catas are experiencing in pvp.

something like Pelt > Hop > Hop > Cor > Cor > Drag is better for PVP, same gap closing problems, but once they are hooked melee range, it’s pretty much bursts coming out from you.

You are sacrifing Cyclone for Hexen, which isn’t bad. DPE for Jolly Roger, which has about similar purpose. But now you have a hook on your tool, you lose the spear throw bind though.

Yea, but with spear throw you may not necessarily have to close the gap since if bind hits you can use long stride to leap over. And assuming that doesn’t break the bind, you can resume your combo that way.

Closing the gap is definately the hardest part.
