“short question”, i have a Hop3/Doppel1/Dragoon2.
Which weapon should i use, a 2hand Spear or a 1 hand Spear + shield?
Is the dmg so much higher with a 2hand?
The thing is, i got my Practonium today and i dont know which spear i should craft.
Depends on what you want.
1hand+shield/offhand=more gem slot options
2hand=more damage when transcended
The thing is i dont want to be totally squishy, but i dont know if its worth to take a 2 hand.
Always go for maximum damage since you are a goon2. Pick the 2handed spear.
If you want not to be squishy you can just swap it to spear+shield when needed.
For bossing 2h handed for sure.
1h+shield with hoplite is more to spam spear throw with geras against a large group of mobs.
you should craft sacmet over the 1h spear for sure
for my dragoon i just use geras+didel tower shield whenever i want to spam spear throw and that’s the extent of what i use 1h+Shield for
also for swash buckling. When you transcend sacmet, the damage is gonna be much highe than 1h spear even after the 20% damage to medium mobs, the difference between a transcended sacmet and a transcended pygry spear gets very significant the higher stage you can get.
Even after sacmet’s penalty, which is a flat amount, its stronger than pygry.
There are good uses for 1h+shield, most of them being for a cataphract dragoon build for pvp but for a pve build i would stick to 2h spear
unless you want to solo 290 dungeon with it in which case sticking to 1h spear+shield can be acceptable if you can’t handle the damage of the mobs there.
Sacmet sucks, waste of super valuable practonium. Better buy 40m worth of blessed shards instead of crafting Sacmet then transcend Cata pike/Cripple. Sacmet maybe good against selected world bosses with leather armors but general gameplay will gimp you more than what you get from Sacmet. -200 against cloth and -100 against plate respectively. Regard horn pike is just around the corner better wait for it. Tedious to craft but worth the trouble as youre going to use it to craft rank 10 weapons. I mean youre going to use Regard pike from rank 8 to rank 9 farming.
PVP - 1 handed spear + shield
PVE- 2 handed spear
Because the better your damage output in PVE is the more productive your char.
it sounds unrewarding, and thats what i thought
but there is some calculations that you fail to understand
catacombs pike’s base damage:412+225 at +15=637
637x6.5 =4140 physical attack is the damage of a +15 stage 10 catapike
for sacmet, base damage is 633 +250 at +15=883
883x6.5=5739.5 damage at stage 10 transcendence +15
so as you see, the more you transcend the better the damage becomes
the damage difference is FLAT 200 against cloth and 100 against plate at the end of the calculation. simply a flat damage reduction
do i like it? hell no, and ofc regard horn pike is miles better than all of those spears
but not everyone is capable of farming/crafting regard horn pike
sacmet is just easy to craft once u got practonium, and certainly better than any previous sacmet
but not its certainly an unrewarding spear, i agree with that.
but a flat 100-200 damage reduction is nothing compared to the amount of damage you can deliver with a high transcended weapon.
Thats why it is a waste of practonium. It is obvious that lvl 315 damage is higher than 170 weapon. If you didnt notice, I specifically didnt mention it because it was super obvious. The reasion i didnt mention sacmet has higher base damage because it was obvious.
Is the amount you spent on crafting sacmet is worth more than transcending lvl 170 weapon?
at this point of the game i wouldn’t take a lvl 170 weapon higher than stage 2
and my cata pikes on both my lancer and my dragoon are stage 2. doesn’t seem to worth it to take it higher than that
if i find myself not able to craft regard horn pike, i’d probably proceed to just crafting sacmet and transcending it.
I’m the same build and I’m very satisfied with one handed. Good DPS + Utility + Survivability for the trade off of Better DPS does not seem worth it. When it comes to DPS also remember that especially for melee, survivability also helps with DPS as it allows you to stay in the fight longer. Overall it’s a matter of preference, either way the build is good and you’ll excel at most things.

Some people on my server are using Transcended Catapike/Cripple and are doing ok when it comes to damage department(rank 1 or 2, rank8 content cleared, WB, ET etc). Most people are skipping Sacmet because it is not cost effective as youre not going to use it by rank 9. Not worth to transcend knowing it will get outdated in the future. Then why transcend Catapike/Cripple if same logic can be applied to it too? Because it is the most cost efficient among other choices Catapike/Cripple vs Sacmet etc currently. Basically you can get 1.2k-1.4k attack damage from lvl 3 transcended using 40m of blessed shards vs Sacmet that cost 40m+ too. LVL 3 transcended Sacmet cost somewhere 80m or 90m, you can make lvl 4 transcended cripple already with the same damage or much higher.
Do you get the picture now? Sacmet high damage vs cripple will only worth more if you transcended Sacmet at lvl 5+. I doubt youre going to stop transcending your sacmet at lvl 3 knowing the fact transcended lvl 4 cripple is the same but cost efficient.
