My guess is it probably will. No game I play before that has this feature doesn’t lead to some form of elitism or another.

What in other games is bad in this could not be. Too simple? Ok, go again. As in other games classes are all the same thing, mostly, in this game they aren’t.
In Tera you have 1 tank, two healers. Everything else is DPS. In other games is worst than that.
In this game Healers, buffers, Linkers, tank, dps and support really matter and work better as part of the whole game.
So you see in the chat “looking for dps” as you see “looking for wizard, looking for tank, looking for heals” Probably the non heal support class get a higher impact, but i think people know what they do and can offer.
often got rank 2-3 with an pvp build (rogue c3)
not everyone know how to run their class

dps meters have always been pure crap in games. To bad they added one in this gme. It was fine the way it was.

It won’t. What will happen is player shaming - which i hope it does. How the ■■■■ is a proper DPS class losing to a tank/healer/someone with a terrible build?
Like, people are actually so scared that others will be able to see they aren’t putting work in - just pressing random keys or auto attacking 99% of the time.

in other mmos, dps meter makes sense since lots of things have dps checks as main barrier mechanic.
but here? its a different style and it doesn’t really bring anything
wugushi is soo strong lol i remember one time me a wugushi and a pyro did e lvl 90 dung in less than 10 minutes.

It does, in a psychological perspective a player’s dps meters acts as a threshold for evaluating their overall happiness/satisfaction with their current build. The reason why public builds on Tos base was popular due to that fact in which people look for the “top dps” “top support” and other clickbait titles.
Honestly a DPS meter would be fine in a game like Blade and Soul for example but I just don’t see it working here. The concept of DPS just isn’t so cut and dried here like other games. We have tons of classes with different builds with different damage dealing mechanics (a cleric is not always JUST a healer and a mage is not always JUST a dps for example) and not all will be optimal under different scenario. I was in 3 missions just now where my krivis3 druid2, a cleric out damaged everyone else with a "dps build’ on siaulial and I’m pretty sure there wasn’t any slackers, everyone did their best so I can’t point the fault at anyone.
As long as everyone does their best and we can complete whatever mission we queued up for, I guess it will all be fine.
