Download error need help

My friend has errors when downloading ToS, on the first try, he started download ing and it reached 70%, he paused his download and decided to continue on the next day. The next day his download went back to 0% and I told him to redownload it again, and so he did it. Earlier today it reached 100% but poof it went back to 0% again… why is that? we were to lazy to download it again so I gave him a copy of the game and transferred it to the steam apps / common folder… then again, nothing changed… he still needs to download it back from 0% even with the full game already there. (7gb file size).

We already tried reinstalling steam, restarting the computer etc.

The game isn’t downloadable right now. It was downloadable from about the 18th until the 20th or something like that, but not anymore.
It’ll be downloadable again on the 29th or maybe a few days before that

I’m not sure about that… my other friend just finished his download 1-2 days ago… but this friend has his download in a loop. and they both started on the same day…

I don’t know what to tell you then. It definitely cannot be downloaded right now anymore since it’s locked until the 29th (or some days before). You’ll find many people corroborating this, and you can test it out on any account that doesn’t have the game downloaded already

:anguished: I had the same problem , but it’s fixed after I redownload it to 100%…
so it’s kinda strange when it poof back to 0% again after u finish download it :confused:

sorry couldnt help much…
but it does happened to few ppl…

We checked our game status on Steam and the game is downloadable right now. You should be able to pre-load the game and have it physically on your computer. It’s just that you’re unable to start up the game client.

I’d like to get a head count of everyone who’s unable to “pre-load” the game, possibly with details and screenshots, if it’s not too much trouble.

Problem is now gone, Staff Julie, my friend reformatted his computer and he downloaded the game again, it’s now installed. I hope the others would get theirs fixed too. Thanks. I guess that’s -1 headcount xD

Ah, that’s a relief to hear. Just to make sure on my part, has your friend purchased one of the Founder’s Packs?

My conclusion is the pre-load button is only available to those who have purchased a DLC, as making a purchase will put both the DLC and the original game app to the Steam library- hence enabling you to pre-load the game.

Yes, he did purchase one of the Founder’s Packs. It’s now on pre-load status.

Oh, oops. I really thought it wasn’t downloadable, since other people here said the same. I should’ve tested it myself before making that claim…

It might only be downloadable if the game is already in your library, which it can be if

  1. You had already added or downloaded the game prior
  2. You bought the DLC

That’s what I think, because I didn’t buy the DLC (yet; I will buy it) and I have it preloaded

I’m positive your speculations are correct. I’ve been able to solve everyone’s issues of not being able to pre-load the game so far, so it should be all good now. :slight_smile:

Currently it’s my 4th try downloading the game.

First Try: I haven’t bought the game yet, I was able to download/preload the game. Have some pauses mid download, the last time I’ve checked it, it was on 92% few minutes later, it went back to the start all over again.
Second Try: Downloaded the game at around 40% until I received Founder’s Server: EA 3. It proc me to redownload/preload again from the start.
Third Try: Downloaded the game from the start again because I have now the Early Access 3. Until a few minutes later, All of my downloaded steam games are gone. It is still in my library but my downloaded content are all gone. Save my steamapps folder, reinstalled steam, workaround with that. But I am not still able to retrieve all my downloaded games.
Fourth Try: Deleted/Uninstalled the whole steam files, cleaned my registries, downloading all my lost contents/games.

Any idea what cause the problem? I can’t say for sure if the problem was caused by TOS DLC, or there is something wrong with my Steam.

Hello @bromancedawn,

The base game is still in ‘Coming Soon’ status. As such, Steam will not grant you access to download the game files without the DLC. The DLC will act as a pass to get the game files.
Please try again after the game has been released on the 29th of March and let us know if you are still having problems downloading the game.

I currently have the DLC (EA 3), and currently downloading the game. Does that mean I also have to re-download the game on 29th?

No, if you have purchased the DLC and are able to download the game, you will not have to download the entire game on the 29th.
There may be some patches, but I don’t believe that you will have anything major to download.

hey it’s me again. Im pretty sure I’ve finished the preload yesterday. Now it still procs me to preload the whole thing again. Any idea what’s causing this? And the preloading yesterday is taking up space in my hard drive(the same as the file size of TOS).

Should I preload the whole thing again?

Hi Ethan, i bought the founder package few days ago and its saying here : Not installed. ‘’ The game is not available to download yet’’. What should i do?

obs: I have played icbt1/2 and i didnt delete the files.

Thats not exactly correct. Players that had game in their library (iCBT2 testers) can pre-load client without buying DLC.
