Buy2Play with cash shop will kill this game faster then Bots & Hackers ever could.
My goodness, I canāt believe people want this failure of a motto thereās RMT in B2P games too.
I think announcing the game as F2P and then going āNAAAH JK JK, ITāLL BE B2P LOLOLOLā would kill this game even faster than what you said.
But transitioning to B2P would indeed have these recent changes making sense, as ridleyco said. Whether thatās a good idea or not is a completely different issue.

GW2 did good but then they started to put everything in gachapon boxes.

Weāre so screwed.
Did GW2 have several gamebreaking bugs, poor netcode and god knows what else wrong with it though? If people get desperate enough to play this game theyāll just find their way back on the Korean servers because why should you pay for a game that is free in another country? (COUGH, BLACK DESERT!)
I just personally find the idea of buying to access a game then also having to pay more for cosmetics and such straight up appalling and insultingā¦

It surely did. Especially at start. Infamous ban wave of players that did nothing but bought things from NPC for price set by developers or even for crafting some items and selling them to NPCs. It wasnt gamebreaking but was poorly handled, then there were TONS of bots. WvWvW lagging/culling players way too much that it made mass battles impossible etc.
yeah, whatās the deal with console games and their dlcs? You have to buy the system, game, AND pay for dlcs. Slap in the face.
Honestly, thereās a very high population of players right now. Is anyone quitting? Not really. If it becomes b2p, Botters have to pay more and if they keep getting banned before they even make a profit? Itās not double the Botters.
Yet it works, because people are idiots like those who want B2P hereā¦ Sometimes I wonder if they just want to throw their money to flaunt their e-peen. 
Although in some cases with DLC if it isnāt actual features of the game, it can be acceptible IF it keeps the game updating.
Cash shop isnāt the same as DLC thoughā¦ itās usually much worse -_-;
If the game goes B2P which everyone was expecting F2P people are going to start dropping like flies, especially if it becomes a sub service. The botters donāt care as long as theyāre making a profit which right now thereās proven facts they areā¦ even then you have the not so ālegalā ones that are using stolen credit cards so a price change wonāt effect them at all.

Okay, so I saw mention of gachapon. You know Japan, Korea and I believe in China has a law on these gambling methods right? International releases especially America does not. So companies will often abuse the crap out of it. Reason they have laws is because of stupid college kids putting themselves severely in debt to get that powerup/complete set they want.
As much as I hate to admit it with how stupid some people can be, gachas are a good way to make money fast especially if you stick something in there people want a lot. (Busty/revealing/sexy female outfits/Angel wings/devil wings, etc.)
Another thing though isā¦ GW2 only had one big release that was B2P right? Thatās different from ToS that is free in another country.
