Doppels Punish + Attribute scaling?

Does anyone know how Punish and its attribute scale with skill level?

I have Punish level 1 so far I’ve noticed since i got the attribute for it that if used on lone mobs it deals, apparently randomly, between 2~3 hits.
If used against several mobs sometimes the amount of hits increases to 5~6 hits.

Does anyone know how exactly the amount of hits are calculated? Is it dependant on how many mobs are in the aoe, regardless whether they are knocked down or not? Or is it dependant on how many mobs are knocked down?

Also, considering the aoe might be able to deal quite alot of hits, depending on what criteria it uses, would it be worth it to invest more than 1 skillpoint in skill?

The level just increases the Physical attack on the damage formula, it has nothing to do with the Earthquake attribute, which scales with the amount of mobs knocked down+your physical attack.
The Earthquake attribute has 2 true multi hits and the rest are fake hits. This can be easily tested on Crystal Mines mission, on the totem area, knocking down all the mobs possible near the totem and counting the true hits on the totem.
Notes aside, im talking with experience in the matter, i already had Punish lvl 15 and pretty much all the doppel skills maxed, i’m not theorycrafting.

So in order to increase damage as high as possible one would need to knock down as many enemies as possible, which then multiplies the damage.

Do you have any idea whether the knocked down mobs need to be very close to the player character (aka the small “stab-down” area in front of the characters where punish triggers) in order to count for the damage multiplier or can they be anywhere in the earthquake area?

And from your experience, was Punish level 2~15 worth it, like, when compared to max Redel? Or not?

You need to be close to them or Punish won’t trigger. That aside, Earthquake will hit all the mobs around its area consuming your AoEar per mob type, aka Small/Medium/Large size.

The points used on it, hell no, but i tested Zornhau lvl 10 with its attribute, and i really liked its damage, cause it has a really long hit box, too bad there’s just not enough points to max everything. Redel and Zucken scale really bad with each level, it’s not worth to max. I personally maxed Sturtzhau, cause it ignores a good portion of the enemy’s defense, lvl 6 + divine might = -450 ignored defense.
Notes aside, Sturtzhau got buffed today on kTOS.

oh no, not at all. serious question. I’m trying to see if there’s a common player that doesn’t use DoV as a Doppel. :grin:

I’m doing one atm but the changes in DoV kills my char.

Well i tested all the Doppel skills at maxed lvl, but Deeds of Valor makes a huge difference, DoV is synonym of Doppel, not having it is pretty much wasting the class. In my opinion, DoV is more important than cyclone overall.

If i was to choose between DoV15 or Cyclone15, i’d choose DoV15 all the time.

thats what I thought. 150% is a lot, honestly if it weren’t for the mechanic (get hit/get high on shroom), no doubt I will take it. well I guess I’ll be giving up my Doppel even though swords are always my thing in mmos.

You can always ask your party mates to duel and build DoV that way. You dont loose your buffs if you die on duel. Also if you’re full DEX, take off your boots, drop some gear.
There some stuff i’m testing to build DoV faster, but i believe duels make it super fast.

since dov render phy def less useful

should dop go full leather for evasion or full clothes for mdef?

but yeah, it’s the build up that I hate, maybe when they remove the mechanic I’ll have a go at it again. but I don’t they will ever do that.

That’s a pretty good question, i’d say carry 2 sets of gear. Even though with enough magic defense from accessories + squire foods and Aukuras lvl 5+, you get perma-healing from HP recovery. I’m planning to solo ET one of these days. We’ll see.

Ya, you don’t loose your buffs when you duel, very easy to build DoV, if there’s a Cleric to cast Cure or any sort of dot, quickly.

since its expensive investment for 2 different sets, may i know dov reduce phy def includes those of gems?

im thinking to get clothes virtov and add yellow gem for phy def (incase 300dex evasion fail)

will the phy def from gem reduced to 0 as well?

Actually, if you’re looking for Cloth set to increase magic defense, Elkosh set is better than virtov, magic defense-wise i’ll try to get it and test damage on 320+ mobs, it should do good though, i just don’t have 8x Nuaele lvl 10…
I’ve never tried using Cloth, which is hilarious, but i’ll give it a shot.
