Tree of Savior Forum

Don't you guys think the cash shop is a little ridiculous?

I have a few issues with the cash shop.

Problem: For starters the premium female hair is more expensive than the premium male hair. Not entirely sure why this is thing I’m assuming IMC figured out that female characters are more plentiful and decided to just raise the price to make more money.

Solution: Lower the price of female premium hair to match the price of male premium hair or raise the price of male premium hair to match female premium hair (not ideal, but a solution).

Problem: Tokens are a bit too expensive. They cost nearly nearly $20.00 USD. That’s more than a subscription to FFXIV and WoW.

Solution: I think this price should be cut in half personally. Tree of Savior is not as polished as those games and while it is far too soon to say, I doubt it will have updates as often. Charging that much for a premium membership is pretty bold in my eyes and not in a good way. The benefits themselves… that’s for another topic. It is clear that tokens give you incredible benefits and there are a lot of players who want them. However at their current price point it is a bit too steep given what other games charge (and they actually have less restrictions too).

Problem: Enchant scrolls are P2W.

Solution: Remove them or make them more accessible without having to drop lots of TP for results. I heard these drop in the field? Not really sure but the stat gains are pretty massive, especially for early game. I think this needs to go entirely to be honest. They could compromise by maybe having the enchant scroll cost 5 TP versus 10 to give a F2P player more a chance to remain competitive in stats, but I think it should go.

I agree. I think the cash shop is disgusting and a free to play games should have no income at all.

Way to completely miss the point of the topic.

Oh no I see what you’re getting at. You feel like the cash shop gives players who pay a huge advantage over free players.

Thing is free players can make up the difference in stats by farming more. Paying is just a quicker route.

As for cosmetics like hair styles and look of characters. This is a non-issue as free players don’t deserve this without paying.

The token is around $18 indeed I agree the price should be dropped slightly to match that of P2P games such as WoW/FF.

At the moment it is very limited though so I’m going to give it the benefit of the doubt until more things are in there at which point I will judge it.

on which items should you use the enchant scrolls?

I never once said F2P players deserve the cash shop cosmetics without paying. I said that the prices for both male and female hairstyles should be the same.

I can see that you agree with the enchant scrolls and are in favour of P2W. That’s what I think you’re getting at.

Agreed

And I suspect, well no, I can confirm actually, that you’ve run out of relevant and useful things to contribute to this topic. So if you could kindly go away, that’d be swell.

you still don’t really get what he’s saying… I bought the $50 pack so i dont mind paying at all, but i still think that atm the cash shop is way overpriced. $20 for a 1month memb? hell i can get a month of wow and netflix for that.

and she was just saying that female hairstyles are more expensive than male’s… which doesnt sound fair. honestly you should read the comment before posting.

Totally agree. I have no problem with dropping money on cash shops, but it depends on how they’re implemented. Things like different prices for female and male hairstyles just reeks of cash-in and stuff like that puts me off spending money.

The token is too expensive. Like Rubiss said, there are better and more polished games out there for less. Stuff like this will harm the population in the long run - whether this is a concern depends if you care about playing this game for years or merely months? This game is starting to look more and more like a cash-in than something with much thought regarding longevity. So many poorly thought out decisions made (and most due to financial reasons)

That’s the reason I didn’t buy the $50 pack personally. I wanted to wait and see how the cash shop would be before investing that kind of money. As of right now, I am glad I bought the $10 founder pack.

I sincerely hope that this isn’t how Tree of Savior will continue going forward. I hope IMC games reduces prices and makes the cash shop less pay to win and more appealing through justifiable means.

We’ve had this debate for over a month now in these forums. The enchant scrolls aren’t so big of a deal that they need to be removed or even nerf’d, minus the AoE Ratio stats. There’s also no way they’d be lowered to 5 TP anytime soon considering the Cash Shop is pretty lackluster at the moment, so people would save their Free TP for just these scrolls leaving one less profitable thing in the Cash Shop.
And:

I agree with your other 2 points though.

  1. Play male characters, doesn’t affect me. It’s true, female characters are usually more played; it’s a dirty move, but small cash grabs like this I expect from IMC. Otherwise, fairly ambivalent until it affects me.

  2. It is pricey, but I also would not use P2P models to compare. The reason why it costs more than P2P is that monthly bonuses provided from the tokens are extras - the P2W / luxury items. $15 for WoW is to play the actual game; $20 here is to speed by people more.

  3. IMC, Granado Espada. The signs from this game / KR were there. I don’t play F2P KRMMOs without expecting some form of P2W. As long as I can buy these for in-game currency, it won’t keep me up at night.

  1. The fact that this issue doesn’t affect you personally doesn’t make it any less ridiculous. I don’t think it’s right to expect “cash grabs” like that. It’s almost a $5.00 USD difference. That’s a bit much.

  2. You’re paying more for less. You don’t have infinite trades, your market listings are greatly limited and you can only trade with other token users. By paying for a month of WoW or FFXIV you’re getting a lot more for less. Perhaps some people value the 30% exp bonus that much, but I think it is a rip-off.

  3. Fair enough. I don’t think P2W is right, but you’re allowed to disagree.

Yeah, I completely agree. I’ll just say that a f2p game needs to be able to sustain itself on cosmetics alone, or it failed in my opinion.

Hair thing is funny though, lol. Could be that they are thinking that since ladies care more about their hair than guys in real life, they should charge more for female hairstyles to get more out of the female players that are playing mostly for the cosmetics or something like that. :stuck_out_tongue:

I laughed out loud when I saw it in the cash shop. xd

What’s even stranger is that female characters who paid $10.00 can’t actually afford the premium hair. It’s priced in such a way that you actually cannot purchase it without having dropped at least $30 on the game.

It’s definitely intentional.

I’m actually disappointed in the lack of hairstyles to choose from. My dude needs a long flowing mane of green curly locks. The token issue I can see being solved if they offered a 1 day token and a 1 week token for sale as well. 15USD would be a good price point for the monthly token.
