It’s my tree. The game title said it so it must be true.
Just joking ! What do you think about the title “Tree of Savior” ? Do you like it ? What do you think about it, what does it mean ?

At first glance…
Just right now, it’s pretty meaningless.
I think my opinion of this game would’ve been within a 5% deviation of the current standing if they called it almost any other generic mmorpg name.
NAME RANKING : GENERIC.
Perhaps it’ll come to have more meaning later.
Edit : There is no best name ever. If there is, it shouldn’t have lasted more than it took to read it.
p.s. I actually think League of Legends is a marvellous game name, not playing the game myself and disliking moba-type games in general. (bad dota experiences)

@Savior I don’t know if I enjoy the title, it makes me think of “League of Legends”. “Tree of Savior.” “X of Y”.
I really hope so ! I will certainly sh*t myself the first time I see it, running and dancing around
Should change it to “iTree of Savior”

they thought of Yggdrasil when they named it
Same here… it’s almost too obvious ; P for old RPG fans…
's okay tho.
The developers said that tree in ToS is related to Baltic mythos. Norse mythos isn’t the only mythology out there with a divine tree.
This game is like secret of mana. Starts with Simple beginnings, then political machinations, then the struggle with bad guys showing how bad they are, then god tree is found then suicidal raid on the enemy fortress because your the chosen one.
Well, when you read the story, it explains you where the adventure takes place in the beginning. It does mention of a huge tree grown from nothing in midle of the town, and then, the capital was starting to fall down in ruins.
So, I think that’s the argument for the title “ToS”. Of course, @itzNiko, if I can’t find such tree ingame, I’ll just do alt+f4 too and cry away from it xD, but I know I will find it and the whole story of the game will go on surrounding this famous tree…
INB4 it turns out that everyone was born from that demonic tree and the goddess is actually evil and buried the tree so its children - aka us - would all be hers.
… what do you mean it’s to abstract?
Well the game lore does rather feature something about a big tree… that might have something to do with it
What big tree you have there, sir.
Tree of savior…
You know what ?
I respect IMC and mr. Hakkyu Kim…but…
Seems like a ripoff of Mana Series.
Mana series lore maybe inspired this.
I mean, they have a goddess who gave them the mana (as a tree) that gave life to all forms of life in that world.
Coincidence ? Maybe.
Except here it seems the tree is linked with the disappearance of the goddesses. (Note the plural.) So you’re kind of making something out of nothing.
Also, the concept of a divine tree is present in a couple of culture’s mythology so if anyone ripped off anyone, it’s the Mana series ripping off those cultures.
TL,DR: This game is pulling on ancient mythology for a lot of elements. They’ve done research of actual historical locations for some of the maps as well (was in one of the old blog posts). Very common for writers to draw on Norse, Greek, and Celtic mythology in their games. I think it’s great.
Looking forward to seeing how the story plays out. I’m planning on doing some research and posting a bit more about the lore and where it comes from… because I have too much time on my hands and I know some players are interested in that sort of stuff.
It is kinda generic.
The world of Tree of Savior doesn’t seem to depend on a special tree to exist as is the case with other games that involve a divine tree. The tree in this scenario rather is the cause of significant disruption in the world so it’s certainly straying from the common divine tree archetype.
