Does INT worth it for mages?

Hi everyone, i’m new in TOS and i have a serious question: The INT atribute really worth it for mages? In terms of damage it really make a huge difference?
I’m playing Pyromancer and just realized that INT do not scale so well with my skills, i’m about to try a CON/SPR build and want to know what you guys can tell me about that.

Thanks.

Con and Spr wouldn’t necessarily make a bad build, depending on what you go for, but Int is still damage. Considering the cooldowns of mage skills, going for an Spr build isn’t as good as Archer, potions will do you fine, so going Int will stack up and eventually give you that boost in dmg you need for when your spells do come out.

I’m adjusting as I go along, so I have some of each, but more Int at the moment. Dunno how that’ll be later on, but I dont want to be a glass cannon or only on survivability.

con/spr mage ftw.

full con is what PvP mages aim for, if u are more PvE get 100-130 CON and rest INT

At early levels it won’t. Get to the higher levels and you will notice the difference since there are attributes to get which increase your skill damage by percentage, plus many skills of late game Wizard scale with INT factor like Sorcerer, Elementalist (Meteor is a 4*INT damage skill), and Runecaster with its +300% Ice damage buff.

If you plan to go support wiz however, INT won’t benefits you much. Stick to CON/SPR.

One mechanic you might not be aware is that once you spend enough points to pass certain thresholds, you start getting more stats per point invested.

Also, you get a 10% per rank bonus on INT. At rank7 you will have 70% bonus INT.

Another point, purists will tell you that spending any points at all in SPR is a waste, since the only real benefit is SP (max and regen), and SP you can buy via potions.

Just think about it, you can spend farmable currency (silver) in order to get more limited currency (stat points) in wherever else you want.
Sure, reality is not as black and white, and the extra SPR does offer a lot of commodity and saves a sizable ammount of silver on the long run.

In the end it’s up to you, commodity vs “min/maxing”.

Dont touch spr, with the possible exception of going 125 for specific pvp purposes on otherwise full con builds, but its not even meta to raise it for pvp builds like that, just something that has a mechanical justification to it.

Full con is viable for a wizard. Int will raise your damage output quite significantly when you factor in bonus points, class rank int multiplier, skill attributes, and quick cast bonus if you are a wiz3

At low levels of course you arent getting many bonus points yet since nothing is high enough for it, you probably dont have very high attribute bonuses, and you arent getting full class rank multipliers yet.

At low levels you should raise your con first to where you want it, then start investing in int.

You should shoot for 60 con or so early on, and then raise it to 100-120 or so for the current level cap, depending on the equipment you choose to use.

Only go Spr if you see yourself investing in a heavy mana/second class like featherfoot (blood sucking is 77sp/0.4 seconds). If you see yourself even touching a %mana/second class like psychokino and sorcerer, avoid spr like the plague. Having high Spr with those classes will make trying at recover mana a pain in the butt.

For con, 80-100 is enough for lv 250+ pve especially from the plate armor set HP bonus, 150+ recommended for pvp

You just live on potions later on. Having high spr isnt going to offset those costs in combat, and resting is really amateurish at later levels.

It is true that early on, and mid levels, and even at higher levels, while soloing, its nice to have some sp regen. You can get it on hats.

The one and only valid use for spr is debilitation resist. with 125 spr there is a 50% chance for you to resist things. This is seen as optimal in some metas. Its not very common though because in the past dispellers worked in pvp (they dont anymore in korea), and on pvp teams, you are likly to have a plaguedoctor anyway so it doesnt really matter.

To be honest, while you guys @Elysion @yyang_umd are perfectly fine and I completely agree with it, at the end of the day it depends on his playstyle.

And by that I mean how much time he has to invest in the game, and how much of the optional “hard” content he actualy wants to take part in and if he wants to PvP/GvG at all.

A lot of people just want to sit back and play for a few mins/hours every once in a while and don’t care about min/maxing. A gimped build with points spread in INT/CON/SPR can clear regular content just fine and it is considerably “easier” early on. All depends on how hard he wants to dive in the game lol.

But yes, avoid SPR like the PLAGUE if you want to go Sorc/Kino. They should warm people about this in the tutorial lol.
