That is, does int affect autoattacks on wizard type characters or i only get more powerful by using more powerful weapons? just being curious, thanks 
yes it does
1 int = 1 additional autohit dmg

You attack is Magical Attack, next time open your Character Info and check on the detailed list how it increases as you add int.
How about to clerics? Does int affect their auto attack?
Cleric is more on Str if u referring autoattack
Check weapon description.
Mage weapons says “magical attack” where other weapons lists “physical attack” before the damage amount.
