Game looks beautiful so far,
but the only thing I can see graphcially that needs improvement is the sprites should be slightly more vibrant / colorful,
they all seem kind of dim? Gorgeous, but dim.

Yes, some probably agree with you. (and some don’t)
Is that all, mate?
I can’t quite make this a point of dicussion because I can’t tell what is ‘vibrant’ and ‘dim’ to you nor do I know what you’re basing it on.
Cheers.
p.s. Be prepared to be told off because this game isn’t supposed to be generic MMORPG nonsense.
I really like the current pallet. I’s gives the game an antique flow, rough and a little bit of grimm, which, in my opinion, makes it more consistent with the medieval/fantasy theme.

I don’t know if this is anything but I believe they are actually changing the graphics of the bland maps while the kCBT is still going on.
Agreed, the character/NPC sprites would look much nicer with a few touch-ups to make them look more vibrant (Like what’s being done to the maps currently), but it’s not a game-breaker so either way is fine in the end.
It’s obvious based on the thread Garrnett posted that you’re not alone on this – but personally them making any more major changes to the games aesthetic could easily cause me to lose interest in this game. So I hope not – the original palette feels dreamy yet realistic & has color hues that are deep & rich, things seem fairy tale like yet mature.
I really appreciated that & don’t want them to continue making things overly bright & colorful/childlike.
I know some people who have played feel things look dull, but I also know there are those who are passing judgement on the games look without having seen it for themselves first-hand!! (i’ll admit that the characters and monsters look dim/dark and out of place in that new crazily bright starting area though – they need to tone that down if they don’t want the monsters/characters to look ridiculous in comparison.)
Running through the maps in icbt there was already a good handful of colorful/sunny areas, I don’t understand why anyone would want the whole game to look the same like that though.
I hope this game doesnt became so colorfull n bright like those rainbow like games… with glowing stuffs fancy suits and nonsense pets/rides …
I prefer characters to be dull and rough looking. I mean I am killing monsters right. Though I don’t want the whole game to be as the same. I think the only thing that should be bright and colorful are the field and cities. Since this grabs my attention as a person who loves to explore a lot. Dungeons, however, can be dark, spooky, and colorful.
All in all, I wouldn’t want my character to pop since I really feel it would take away from the scenery.
They are already doing some stuff with the scenery and maps so they are more bright and colorful. (Only the maps/fields)
Well that’s the direction IMC want tree of savior to. Dark and grim as the world is in crumble.
Q) There are some opinions that the game looks little dark.
A) We have thought about it a lot. The world in TOS has some dystopian element so we couldn’t just make it too bright and too happy. Instead, we wanted players to really immerse into the world. The details and the expressions in the game should not be just cute and lovely. Depicting the world as it is, and depicting the reality as closely as possible is more important to us. If there is grass, then it should sway in the wind.

I don’t agree with you at all. The backgrounds have all the colors and stuffs, if you apply colors to the costumes also, you will blend the characters with the background and it will be difficult to tell them apart. But well, you can always try i guess.
I kinda understand what hes saying
Fix the faces first. It gets weird seeing everyone in town with the same blank stare. After that we can worry about dim sprites imo.

Yeah, having poses without the facial expression kinda kills it and makes me cringe a bit. Small details like that doesn’t ruin a game for me if it’s not there but it does make it for me when it is.
