Maybe it’s the GW2 player in me but I haven’t been able to resist completing every map I go to 
I feel like there’s going to be something eventually and I refuse to miss out on it. Even if there isn’t I still get a buttload of exp cards, so… win win

OMG, you’ve been completing maps without knowing there is a reward system in place already?
Go to the NPC with a Wing symbol in town and collect your map completion rewards. You can get EXP cards and Silver.
that’s what happen when people skip text and never talk to every npc they meet
LOL I didnt even know till recently. I reached level 200 and found out. Needless to say I had ALOT of exp cards thrown at me.

And lo, it comes full circle.
you get 3 exp cards for exploring 100% of the map, and the level of the cards you get depends on what level range that map was
