Do you need Priest 3 to unlock Chaplain?

Title. Having a hard time finding a concrete answer on this. I was planning to go Priest > Priest > X > Chaplain > X > X, which would probably include Priest 3 anyway, but I was hoping to pick that up AFTER Chaplain.

Anyone know for certain if you need Priest 3 in order to unlock Chaplain?

Also Does Chaplain deal damage if they do not have any priest skills to “base” off of.
many chap skills state that they are being based off priest skills. So i too am confused on if i need priest as a prerequisite to play chap.
