1; what “might” happen in the future isn’t a very good reason. we see lots of balance changes on kTOS, but there’s no actual guarantee that we will even get the same balance patches that kTOS gets.
and realistically, people don’t want resets for what might happen -someday-. they want resets because they just blundered into a class without checking anything, and now they’ve screwed up their build, and don’t like that their choices had consequences.
2; it -is- dismissive. but the counter arguments for this are purely selfish, so it balances.
3; we happen to consider it “exploitive” to be able to level up as any ‘easy’ class, and then just reset into whatever ‘optimal’ end-game class you choose.
–method 1 (no reset); to be the most effective version of a certain class (like a FS cleric, for example), it requires several ranks of very awkward classes, which nearly everyone considers to be extremely difficult to level. you can pick other classes that are easier to level, but it reduces the effectiveness of your overall build. if you want to be the “best” version, you need to slog through those painful classes like everyone before you did.
–method 2 (full resets); to be the most effective version of a certain class [bla bla bla] f2p players must slog through the slow and painful classes. or just level as whatever is easiest, and throw a bunch of money at it, and pow, suddenly you’re an effective optimal endgame build. yay for pay2win easy leveling! and f**k all those people who didn’t buy the classes they wanted, right?
4; …
and you want to talk about disingenuous ?
again, disingenuous. sure, -some- quit/roll something else/etc.
and -some- stick with it in spite of, and find something else to do with the class/build they have.
there will -always- be a heavy leaning towards what is cool, or whatever the current meta-trends are. it doesn’t matter if you have or don’t have resets.
what having resets -will- ruin is the diversity between starting level and near-end-game level… because if there’s an easier way to level that you just have to throw money at, people will use it. the game will be reduced to 4 basic leveling guides, one for each starting class, which will all end with “level 277+: now go to the TP shop and buy your class resets.”… and between level 1 and 277, there will only be 4 builds you encounter, plus that rare “weirdo that isn’t doing it right”.
lmao, this goes both ways. we try to make detailed counter-arguments and explain -why- we feel it’s a bad idea… and your side counters with “they’re all idiots who just want the game to die when everyone gets screwed over.”
