[Discussion] How much Dex is needed to get crits?

92 crit chance -55 crit attack.

Not sure if this might be outdated though, but i followed this:
http://toswiki.treeofsaviorgame.com/item/gem

That’s why Gem Roasting is still a thing despite Alchemist nerf. Looking forward to this.

Thanks, helpfull info.

@Autentist indeed Gem roasting will be quite usefull for this.

did you play the beta? cause if not…fully dex builds are still awesome.

1:3:1:3 for example. Str doesnt need more points if you play melee class

Yes i did play it but not to the max lvl unfortunately.

I do admit a full dex build is always safe for relying on crits. But i rather have some more damage on those crits too.

I have calculated a 1:1 build, and so far i see you will always be between the 25% and the 55% (rounded those numbers). The difference is your gear. Most of the time you will be around 35% - 45% and to my opinion thats still alot of crit chance but with this you will also get some more dmg on those crits.

Combine it with decent gear and you will have a high dmg good critter build.

Calculated this with archer class in mind.

What lvl do you had? What have changed with DEX and Evasion since icbt2? I just can’t find any info about changes in stats. You could be right, but i can’t find any clues

From what i could gather from betas and videos ive seen, it looked as if going nearly full DEX was better for 2 handed classes while STR was best for 1 hand / dual weilding classes.

I have gotten to around lvl 130, i have read from multiple posts that full dex falls off late game because of the dmg that just isn’t there unless you got it from skills.

Correct.

This was viable before high level content was intoduced. That’s why going STR is better for Swordmen, since it gives you both damage and Crit Attack.

I have to correct myself in my previous calculations. I thought a 1:1 build would be good enough but i forgot in some equips you can add more then 1 Gem which would mean you get more crit chance.

Redone calculations and this is based upon you getting good equips then you can go 2:1 and get crit chances of 90% at 3x Green gem (lv 220) and still do tons of dmg.
Going 3:1 would give you a crit chance of 85% at 3x Green gem (lv 220) so still alot of crit but some more dmg.
*Green gems lv 10 are used here.

Both these calculations again are based upon archer and this time i even considered lv 10 swift step for the 25% extra crit rate.

Stating this i can say that a full dex build is’nt even needed to get high crit chance. Since Dex also falls off late game, for archers a 3:1 build would be very strong if you have the equipments if not go with a 1:1 build first and later reset to 3:1.

sorry but could you explain to me this 4:2:1?

well you can go chaplain class. Has multi hit passive and with full crit it turns out you do a lot of dmg at once cause even with low crit you hit 4 times with one hit = enough dmg

I wanna say that it depends on your class you wanna go.
I am a crit monk for example but I still put points into str too but most into dex

4 STR, 2 CON and 1 DEX.

Yeah it’s true that it depends on your class, i personally did calculate for archer which gets extra bonus crit rate but for chaplain different calculations would need to be made and also considering if you prefer Greed gems for crit rate or prefer a blue gem for example more.

4 str - 2 con - 1 dex

Remember.

No stats resets in the game.

Apart from 1 for 50$.

Read this and don’t listen to anyone in this thread:

So when i was in the iCBT 2 some guy i met passed me this link is a spreadsheet so you can get a notion of crit. It’s not quite an exact thing but you can get a notion in what you are going towards.

Critical Spreadsheet

ps: Don’t know if the formulas changed some way

edit: it was a buggy window put the link instead

If you maintaining the same % of dex points spent you maintain the crit chance (though it’s not a straight line, but the tendency remains).

Overall STR grants slightly more DPS, especially on low base damage skills, but DEX grant more utility.

For example, fencer is probably better when going DEX heavy. While Hoplite definitely benefits more from STR.

Overall I’d suggest from 2/7 to 4/7 DEX depending on your build.

Critical rating scales directly with level.

At levels of 200 and up you need so much dex to even reach 50% it’s insane.

Not to mention monsters have protection against criticals.

It’s kind of true, but you will actually get the same % of crit chance if you invest the same % of stats in DEX at any lvl (actually it will slightly drop and then begin to rise).

So 30% invested in DEX will result in X% crit at level 100 and in almost the same X% crit at lvl 500. Also there are monstrance buff and some % crit rate bufffs.

And monsters crit defense can be compensated with proper gear/gems + can be nullified with Zalciai.
