It’s ridiculous. I have been waiting for 10mins to hand in a quest and change channel. All I see is gold spammers scrolling along the top of the screen.

And you know the dumb thing about shout is that players don’t have any real use of it.
Gold sellers under control? In what universe? I’d like to buy a ticket to that dimension right now.
No need to buy a ticket if they use the nuclear option. Considering how useless shout is anyway, I like this idea. It spits in the eye of the gold sellers to not have any real way to communicate to people, though, I do see them resorting to whispers if they take away shouts…
In my opinion megaphones shouldn’t even exist.
They do this already. Just not as frequent or documented as the spam inside of shout chat. However; whispers can be blocked and won’t (I think…) crash the server unless it’s insanely rampant.
I’d like shout disabled until a limit is put on how much you can put on the shouts. It’s more the quantity of characters in the shouts then the number of the bot seller shouts.
The problem with this is that it doesn’t work. Bots will then use link shorteners to get within the limit. Unless you make the limit of characters absurd (hindering players) this doesn’t work as intended.
i think that the lag and crashes comes from the length of the text rather than the spam.
more like 80% from the length 20% from the spam that causes lag and crash.
so adjusting the text limit would reduce lag on the server and will make bots use more megaphone thus shortening their lifespan (we cant load TP yet only through founders pack iirc).
bots only use their megaphone once in a while since their shout is like 10-15 person chatting at once so it is like 30 sec - 45 sec of advertisement per megaphone
if you limit it it will become 5 sec of advertisement per megaphone (i think it takes 8-10 sec before a message comes through from right to left)

It blows my mind how spams can cause the game to stutter even when I mute it.
well thats what i only thought when the game crash from so many bots spamming the shout.
it is a big wall of text in a single shout and multiply that to how many bots there are in a game.
Note: what im about to say below is not 100% sure but might be possible
and displaying it on the top of the screen moving from right to left does take some process from the server.
so the more text there are that are not yet displayed = more pressure on the server to process and display it. it will use up more resource to display all until it reach the newest shout.
a wall of text like i said earlier takes about 30-45 sec to display it all and while doing that in 30-45 sec a new shout has been shown and waiting to be displayed. so the wall of text you see might be from 3 mins back.
