🕶 Barrier + Safety Zone: Better than the once-OP Ausrine + Melstis combo?

Lv.10 SZ (say you went Cleric2) with maxed attribute protects the user for 40 hits in 20 seconds with 48s CD (38s CD if you pick Diev1 for Laima statue)

Barrier weirdly has 100% uptime. Hopefully it can be captured by rogues or destroyed by Lancer’s Joust (though he might die from R7F).

If you go C2 Diev1/Priest Pal3 Kabal1 Inqui1 (or Kabal2) with full CON, you can pretty much tank everyone in the party, right? Another option would be to go Cleric3 with reverse guardian saint and let the DPS in your party freely roam around as you take the damage for him.

Am I missing something here? So a Cleric build is a much much better tank than a Swordsman? Not that I’m complaining.

If you want OP synergy with Barrier - Sterea Trofh
ToS is not the game where you facetank mobs with any character. Mainly because lack of real defensive skills in sw tree (only Peltasta and Murm has somewhat defensive skills) and item durability thing - facetanking mobs in this game will break your items in minutes. So, obviously you need to tank items while in some sort of protection field/barrier/zone -> only clerics have them.

I’m not sure how good this skill is if it’s like Cleric C3’s Guardian Saint, Where you take exactly the same damage your partner who took it takes, which would be bad if someone underleveled or undergeared stood in it and everyone not in party was affected by it. I’m hoping the damage is directed and reduced by all your defense stats instead.

That’s good as well. I’m not a fan of “non-optimal” builds though (not sure what is the correct word, but basically a build where you picked a class too late for its rank e.g. going Druid2 by rank 8 when Druid3 is available by then)

Sad truth. XD I made a Diev Monk yesterday and even with sh!t equipment and full CON I get #1 or #2 in bosses, barely scratched.

You can have two clerics - one Paladin3 and one Druid3 in party 8)

I haven’t thoroughly tested it yet, but AFAIK:

  • Only party members will be able to step on it.
  • I’ve observed that the damage transferred is filtered by the 1st recipient of the damage (so the person you’re “guarding”) which means if he has sh*t gear, you will receive a painful hit. I think this was well-intended because it’d be too OP for low-def high-damage allies to get tanked if the damage was filtered on the cleric’s end.

The nice thing about the Cleric tree though is while you have these skills that let you tank for your allies, you also have the options to mitigate received damage.

Imagine Paladin being a real class for once and immediately gets nerfed.

Paladin3 is getting the block attribute too right? At least it is finally becoming what it was in my mind during cbt2 “a swordie class in the cleric tree”.

For the longest time, I’ve wanted to create the devodin from RO here. I had [guardian saint] (though not good enough back then) and now this. I imagine I can finally work with c3-pala3-pd2 build to do just that. STR and INT are still pretty “bad” so full CON on a damage sponge will be great.
