Tree of Savior Forum

Damn proud of you guys!

I am really so proud of you guys from IMCGAMES right now - you made it happen, you developed Tree of Saviour. Finally, a worthy follow- up to good old Ragnarokonline from days long past.
Oh I was a big fan of Gravity’s classic Ragnarokonline back in the days. It was the first mmorpg I ever played and also the only mmorpg that ever had me hooked. That game just had it all.

I am into game developing myself and started working on a game in 2013, which is about the same time you started if I remember correctly. I worked hard on a game that is based on a mmorpg concept i developed for the last 8 years - But it can never come to be, since I just never never could find any qualified, skilled and professional programmers that shared the same passion and willpower! x . x Game developing is hard, especially when it’s for mmorpgs… There is no way I could learn all the programming needed myself within the next 3 years…
Ahh well, but I shouldn’t become bitter. It is as it is.

I am really happy for you and proud! You are my idols, glad there will be ToS.

I’d ass one of many mockup pics of my game, as a happy greeting! But new users aren’t allowed to post pics unfortunately : (
I’m also looking forward to meet many excited and friendly players.

Where do you live (country)? I have the same passion on game & community development, especially on MMORPG (still studying in college though).
What kind of MMORPG were you going to make? What makes it different from any other MMORPG out there?

Hello friends - thank you for your kind words and warm welcoming.

I first heard of Tree of Saviour on facebook, I think - of course I immediately followed the project. : ) But I only decided to visit the official forum for discussion today.

Pochipochi - your deviantart page is very lovely. : D Thank you for sharing.

Erokhi
Glad to hear that! : D I actually live in Germany, you wouldn’t believe it.
The MMORPG is supposed to be open world, like the old ragnarokonline actually. In other words, there IS a background plot, but it is quite hidden ( not prominent ) and you can fully enjoy playing the game without even knowing about the background story.

The game has has features that other (indie) games do not have, or did not have back then. First of, it’s isometric and I dare say the graphics / sprites and illustrations are pretty decent.
The gameplay and especially combat sytem are rather unique as you would see in the documents. To give an example, there are no complex damage formulas, everything is quite straight forward and simple, but at the same time, very dynamic and extensive.
Balancing may not be the main focus, but RP fun in all aspects.
One interesting point is, that boss monsters can prety much only be summoned by the players! This is an important part of the game, especially towards the endgame. But don’t worry, there is a very fair gameplay / rule system behind this feature.
Also, you don’t only have 1 class or job. You create your character via a combination of skills from different jobs and in addition to that, you can join one of 20 Guilds. Similar like in the old RO, joining a guild changes your character sprite appearance. But, you can also leave a guild and change back to Vagabond ( -> “Novice” ) -> and then, join a different guild etc etc. Guilds give you special skills, but you can only use them as long as you’re listed in the guild.
There is a ton of other content and really cute and cool monsters. : ) It is a project really close to heart since so many years… and I already made all sprite graphics over the last few years… It must be over 2000 -3000 hours of work. ^^;

Too bad. We’re so faraway because I live in Indonesia (South East Asia region).

Does that mean there’s actually a game with similar features like yours?
I suggest you to publish your work in order to recruit more people to join your project. If you think that your project is good enough to be played and good enough to gain people’s trust to develop it, you can try using Kickstarter. But of course, you still need a dedicated and experienced team. If you don’t, you can join a game company and tell this idea of yours. You seem very dedicated and passionate. So if you show them all of your hardwork and progress in those 3000 hours, you have a great chance to be accepted to the company and develop your game. Good luck!

Hehe, well since I do not know of every game that exists in the world, I cannot say if anyone else hasn’t done something similar by now. : p I guess it’s normal.
It even has a similar story of the gods disappearing from the world, even though I didn’t know Tree of Savior also used that similar setting. :sunny:
It’s interesting.

Anyway, here’s a beach party with visitors : )

oh just saw the pics there… looks nice @_@ is it pc online or mobile online game(android)? advance modern full blown 3D games are only playable to those who own an awesome gaming pc rig… so i think this kind of game will cater those who own a low spec gaming rig(like me XD) which i think the mass can play! one of the reasons to why Ro1 is still played by many cause it will not hog ur pc too much >,…,<"

hope u finish the game though… good luck!

For some reason, I can’t visit the link. Tried using VPN but still no response. 404 not found

You did a very good job, considering you did all of that by yourself.

But I think you should focus on making the gameplay overview which includes : 1 map to explore, 1 character, some objects, the gameplay mechanics. Things like costumes, skills variations, effects, etc aren’t that important for now. I also found some hit and miss in the picture, but it doesn’t really matter.

Thank you for the comments and feedback.
Actually, development was already past the step Erokhi suggested. : ) But to me, that is not enough to be presentable, since many small programming details unfortunately were still flawed and never fixed.

But you know, I agree that you should polish the graphic as the graphic quality of modern games these days become more advanced & beautiful (even though it’s a 2d game). The characters are okay, but the environment don’t look like very appealing.

@tecnomegami

Well done, seen a lot of indie 2d pixel game devs done and yours is actually really daunting scope wise for a 1 man job. Kudos. Nice characters!

That’s a nice work!
I love the old school sprite looks, the costume is quite neat, loved that frilly dress and neko (monster?)

Just curious, did you made a specific engine customized for this?
Really love the isometric style, and by the system you mentioned it reminiscent of FF Tactics jobs system minus it’s limitations, that’s a beautiful concepts!

oh, thank you.

we used an engine named “byond”, in case you are interested in making games. it’s mostly free.
