Dagger for Damage-oriented Magnus Chaplain

Hi everyone! Currently playing a ME Chaplain (int) as my main, and I’m now seriously contemplating what dagger to use as my offhand weapon. Will exclude shield in the discussion for the meantime, since I plan to swap off-hands later on if and when I start being delegated to a support role at a later point in the game.

Found out from quick tests that between my 6* red-gemmed Five Hammer and my Karacha dagger, the latter deals better damage, so I now AA with my dagger.

That being the case, which dagger do you think would suit an Int Chaplain best:

  1. Venom = 128-150 patk, +14 Con, -117 atk against Plate, +178 Poison Atk, 2% chance to inflict poison that deals damage over 10 seconds when attacking with dagger, 1 gem socket; or

  2. Pajoritas Dagger = 159-187 patk, +15 Dex, -120 psycho resistance, +235 psycho property atk, 2 gem sockets?

I believe this is in case you are against leather opponent
and there was someone said that venom inflict poison only trigger when you attack with dagger. *can someone confirm this?

As chaplain, the better your property attack, the higher it will be boosted with blessing.

no 2 is looks like what I will use 80% all the time while venom’s poison is nice when triggered similar how it is with ignition

  1. Yup, I guess it was against a leather-type mob.
  2. Yup, the 2% chance to poison only proccs when you are attacking using a dagger.
  3. So your choice then would be Pajoritas.

uhm i never used dagger in my chars (all chapl) cause i like stone skin + shield but tomorrow i will test this (or try test rsrs)

Pajoritas, even 1 socket, is much cheaper than Venom. Procs of Venom (and Blood Dagger) aren’t really that much since it relies on your Elemental Attack. Your INT build means you won’t be doing AA that much and won’t really need to put gems in your offhand weapon (No need for Pajoritas 2 Socket). Since you’re going for support role go for Pajoritas.

Hi @bunnycakes, I actually often find myself AA’ing (prolly because I’m only Rank 6, that could indeed change), since nothing comes after I cast ME, Heal, and Cure for damage. I’m also leaning more towards damage than support.

Actually one of the nice things about Venom is the Con.

How is venom even a contender? The extra gem slot from any of the newer daggers is pretty hard to beat.

venom is noob trap

bad off-hand overall

poison only work if u are atk with dagger

sometimes u need to attack with hammer (depend on monster armor)

poison is nothing since mob will dead by your swing

con pretty much nothing

def > max hp anyway
