Hello there,
i just spend more than 1hour at that quest, first time I was doing it with another character was a lot faster.
What I mean - for 15sec of gathering crystal energy, you collect 52resources, and you need 1000 of them for one quest and 5000for all.
I think the main problem is lags, because there is dellay in everything I do, from starting gathering to actual collecting.
