Corsair - Essential Skills?

addmitedtly, I don’t have much knowledge on the swordsman line since I wasn’t planning on playing one but I’ve found it very fun so far.

Looking to build a dual wield corsair and planning to build it as Swordsman x2 > barb x2 > corsair x2

So far I’m on Swordsman 2 and am curious for thoughts on what skills are essential from this line later on down the road.

Any thoughts on the skills to focus on? And bonus question-- how about the stat breakdown? Anyone building out a corsair to share info?

As you can see here, the small number of builds for corsair is basically the same, 2 swordsman -> 2 barbs-> 2 corsair

and everyone is exploring the buff/party gameplay with him(pirate leader/jolly roger)

I feel like Corsair isn’t a good PvP class so one should focus on the PvE side of the game by maxing Unlock Chest and Steal. Corsair’s most dmg comes from fast dual-wielded attacks, so getting many buffs is a top priority.
Since Swordsman’s skills don’t scale too well, I think going Swordsman>Highlander>Barbarian x2>Corsair x2 would be a great build.
I don’t know how good Jolly Roger is so I feel like 5 points on it is enough. Leveling Iron Hook only increases the capture time and the hook skills have a really high CD which means they might not need more than 1/4 points on them.

Iron hook is AOE it can hook more than 1 people at same time which is pretty good in pvp. I would take peltast instead of highlander for just Swash Buckling because it can provoke mobs… It make leveling faster… You dont need those low level highlander skill when u are going for full attacker mode witht dual-wield…

You also have time to buff before the pvp match starts

You can’t really use the Peltasta skills as most of them require a shield.

The class path you’ve described is the one I planned to follow too, after the weapon restrictions on skills were made to be less strict.

It seems to focus more on normal attacks than skills, with many self-buffs active that contribute to damage, speed, and accuracy to ensure that you hit hard, hit quickly, and hit perfectly.

For now, my character has allocated stat points evenly into STR and CON for a balanced attacker and defender, and has maxed Plate Armor Mastery for significantly increased survivability. I make up for my lack of accuracy with a Steel Falchion which increases accuracy by 32, ensuring I hit often before Barbarian’s Aggressor is obtained.

As for skills, I would suggest getting all of the self-buffs, as well as Stomping Kick. Stomping Kick has four uses before it goes into cooldown, is useful for general damage, and has the ability to knock bosses around, including knocking them out of their attacks in case you are unable to escape in time.

So u cannot use Swash Buckling provoke with Dual wielding? Thats ■■■■■■■ bummer…

Thanks. I’m solely focused on PVE, I don’t really have any interest in PVP so looks like I’ve chosen well so far : p I’ve seen some mention this as a viable build as well. In your opinion, what’s the win of taking this route as opposed to Sword x2?

Sounds good-- I’ve been going mainly STR but raising CON every few levels to keep my HP regen up as my max hp rises. Haven’t run into any issues yet with my low CON (I’m at about 22 now and have 15 CON) Any thoughts towards adding any DEX into the mix for your build?

So far in my journey, Concentrate has been my go-to skill, with Bash being great for crowd control of mobs. Not sure if it’s just me-- but I miss Thrust most times I try to use it, which is mainly against boss monsters. And Pommel Beat really isn’t cutting it.

How about Gung Ho-- worth my time?

Does it still give your party members as well as yourself pirate status when you go up to Centurion?

I never planned to add DEX at all, but it might be useful if you want to change up your auto attacks with more criticals.

Gung Ho is quite good early on, but because it’s a fixed damage increase and not percentage, its usefulness will gradually fade, but I still recommend it as a buff you can throw on and forget until its time to reapply it.

The attack skills I have right now are Thrust, Pommel Beat, and Stomping Kick. You can cover a lack of stab attacks with Thrust, and a lack of strike/hit attacks with Pommel Beat and Stomping Kick, just in case some enemies or bosses are more resistant to one kind of attack.

can you walk while hooking the enemy? and walk while being hooked?

you cant use swash buckling without a shield! a corsair uses dagger as subweapon

@samuraii Why go Savagery when it only works on stab type attacks? And you can always use swap weapon skill to use Swash Buckling. It’s not that hard. Before I tried CBT, I thought it would be quite the hassle, but since a lot of mobs have different attack type weaknesses, weapon swap is pretty essential. So you can have a dual wield in 1 slot and have a bash+shield on the other.

there was a attribute that allow it to work on slash attacks

Afaik, you can only get it at C3 Barb. So you can’t use it with Corsair. And when I got to Barb at CBT, the attribute wasn’t there. So IDK if they removed it.

I haven’t found another thread about what I want to ask, so I’ll post it here.
I project to make a Corsair and I want to go Hoplite on R3 [and maybe Cataphract on R4, not sure yet]
My questions are: - can Corsair attack with one-handed spear? And if it’s the case, can they use Double Weapon Assault? :x

Swash buckling does work with a dagger. Dunno about other subweapons tho.

Uh, you just replied to someone who posted his/her comment two years ago ( well, almost ).
