Hi all, from the research I’ve done I can see that there seems to be native support for the XBOX One and 360 controllers i.e you just plug in and play without the need of a 3rd party program or anything. I’ve also heard a PS2 controller will be detected, however I was not able to figure out whether or not you can use a PS4 controller WITHOUT the use of DS4? Will the PS4 controller work automatically with ToS like the XBOX ones?
My brother plug & played his ps4 controller. No need for extra stuff at all.
I’m using a ps3 gamepad with motion-in-joy pretty easily here. At least in the closed beta. I’m expecting to be able to continue with that, since I needed to change some inputs to make the gamepad at least usable.
Hum, first time i actually hear about ToS having Controller support.
I mean i do have Xbox and PS controllers available to try,
but what i’m wondering how long will a controller be feasible?
Given the sheer amount of skills u have to manage in some builds.
I’d geuss after rank 6 onwards Controller wouldnt have enough Buttons to accommodate for all skills, or does it incorporate a lot of modificationkeys?
Like LB+X for example?
holy crap really? its had controller support since before ICBT1
also its enough you have 16 slots with out switch to another table. (you can have more tables of 16)
also some of your skills get out dated and replaced.
Yeah, i never really stumbled across it, until now. Eventhough i do have to admit that only have the game on my radar not for that long though. An old RO friend of mine just recently poked me into the direction. As i personally had given up on a “spiritual successor”. But yeah, had no clue about the controlelr thing. I’l give it a try atleast.
Thanks for learing my questions <3
Thats a good thing, don’t go into this game expecting Ragnarok you’ll be disappointed. Its a alright game but you got to take it for what it is a work in progress.
They solved it with the 4 shoulder buttons.
We have 4 standard buttons (for PS gamepads its xo/\■) for basic attack, secondary attack, jump and actions dealing with npcs. After pressing L1 the 4 buttons adress the list 4 skills in your Skill slot. Pressing L2 leads to another 4, R1 to another set, R2 to the 4th set and L1+R1 to the 5th, giving you access to 20 skills already. You can switch the whole set with a 2nd set if you want to have one set for pve and pvp.
Well, at least thats as far as I remember. It’s been a while already lol.
Yes, of course. Eventhough RO is probably my most beloved MMO of all time icannot deny it’s faults from a modern gameplay perspective.
So I am absolutely aware that is game isn’t a carboncopy,
and actually am happy about that,as it is its own game.
What i meant with my saying is that i always hoped for a game with a similar art direction and feel to it.
And hope it kinda catches a hint of RO’s spirit in that sense.
Ah, I see yeah i can see that work. Good to know, so I’l gonna try it for sure atleast when i feel like not wanting to sit to close in front of my screen
It’s definitely not RO, but there is a strange sense of familiarity to a lot in game. It’s a good game. It still is in the early stages but it shows a lot of promise. Most of the community is fun, and diverse. Using a controller makes for a completely different game play though! A much better one imo.
@Seiryuu
Thanks for the screen! Looks comfortabe enough. Good to see they actually thought about making it convenient :3
@Rabbit
I hope the Community stays that way. Sadly, from my expierience, most games turn very sour after release in terms of community, aside from its core community which in turn kinda isolates itself most often. Hope the game can fight that long enough.
I’d advice you to use a 3rd party program to customize the buttons tho. Otherwise you’re stuck to whatever the game forces you upon, which sucks xD
MotionInJoy and xpadder both worked in the closed beta and I needed both of them.
I use a wii u pro controller with a wireless adapter, works nice.
I know what you mean. I’m a FFXIV player and it’s maintained a pretty awesome community but it’s also a P2P game which attracts a different crowd usually. I think due to the nostalgia and style of this game it’s attracting some of that same type though. There’s always going to be some bad apples in any community.
That being said, there are some intelligent active debates going on right now if you want to get a feel for the more vocal portion of the community. ^^a
If you have any gameplay questions, I’m sure plenty of us would be happy to answer them.
@Seiryuu
Yeah, no problem to me. Have em both installed anyways. Seeing how until today most companys can’t understand that PC users are actually capable of using Controllers >_> And even might to rebind the buttons but oh well. Atleast there are support programs like that available for our needs
@Remiri
I never could get around to like any nintendo controller after the NES and SNES ones x__x
Yeah, eventhough I love the FF franchise, and liked its Online iterations, XI and XIV could’nt really captivate me. Cant even put my finger on the why though
Yeah, even though i only registered on the forum today officially i stalked it for quite a time now(which makes me look even more retarted for not noticing the Controllersupport xD) And up till now i have to say that I’m positively surprised how civil the diskussions are held. I just hope it stays that way even after release. o_o
I think it will. The game can be polarizing a bit when it comes to it’s rather unique style compared to the bigger MMOs. There have been a few times things have gotten out of hand, but for the most part people are more “let’s agree to disagree but I still think you’re wrong” lately. Julie has been doing a good job moderating the forums too and trying to actually talk to players which is kinda rare anymore.
During CBT you’d see GMs pop up every now and then in town too which reminded me of the old days in iRO.
welllllllllll about that. That vary’s heavily from topic to topic but if a topic turns into a flame war it generally gets flagged into the ground and closed.
Sadly I only have 3 flags per day :\
The most negative you’ll see here is whining here and there, people complaining about stuff IMC can’t really deal with, since Koreans usually don’t complain ;p
