Constantly getting stuck on loading screens on ONE character!

Bug Description :
I know this is a reported problem but this is getting completely ridiculous. It started yesterday when I tried to enter a map and by game stopped loading at about 60%, exited the client to try again and it still got stuck when I attempted to login on that character. Other characters on my account are totally fine.

Occasionally, I can get my character past the load screen if I’m really lucky… but the issue happens again as soon as I try to enter a new map. And then I have to restart the client and pray I can even login again. It’s been incredibly frustrating, I haven’t been able to do anything with my character AT ALL for two whole days.

I contacted CS to have my character moved to the starting city at their recommendation, and… surprise! Still the same issue! I’ve done EVERYTHING I can on my end. I validated my steam files, restarted the client, my computer, absolutely nothing helps. I see many others have reported this same issue but I don’t see any posts confirming the issue was ever fixed, or what methods were used to fix it for them.

Has anyone been able to fix this bug? Through their own methods, something CS did, anything at all? This character is my main, if I can’t play them then I might as well just quit.

Waiting time inside the mission has been increased from 30 to 50 seconds

UPDATE: I am still encountering the problem, however I did find a way to drastically reduce the frequency of it after like an hour of aggressive googling and skimming through threads.

The issue seems to stem from certain items(?) or just inventory items in general. I tried everything from reinstalling the game from scratch, removing all my add-ons, verifying the game files, swapping between different characters on my account, and putting the game in windowed mode to no effect. However I did reduce the issue’s frequency greatly by clearing out unnecessary items from my inventory. I’m a bit of a completionist and a hoarder, and this is my main character at lv225ish, so I had a LOT of 0 weight books in my inventory. After putting all of these in the bank and discarding a few other random junk items I’d been carrying around, I went from getting the loading glitch every other map to maybe once every 10 maps.

I don’t think there’s any one solution to this bug, but it does seem to stem from inventory items in some way. I’m going to keep an eye on my character’s loadscreens in the meantime, but if anyone else is still having issues with this bug I’d suggest 1) changing between alternate characters and channels to try and get into the game, and 2) cleaning out your inventory of unnecessary items by either discarding or banking them. If there are any new items you acquired/equipped right before the glitch started, try removing them as well to see if there’s any change.

If anyone has any other ideas, please feel free to share.

Ello same things happens too me,

sadly this is the 2nd time its happened to me and now i cant play my main anymore spent alot of time on her…
i regret to say imma have to quit ToS… :confused:

Have you tried cleaning out your inventory when you do manage to get on? I know it sounds totally irrelevant, but it fixed the issue completely for me. I got the glitch once or twice the day I fixed it and haven’t had a single issue since I started managing my inventory size better.

Discard/bank/sell any extra items you don’t need, and see if that’s any help for you as well. If you collect book items like I do then removing those should cut down a ton of space. It’s at least worth a shot.

i’ve done all of that, cleaned and cleared unequiped all gear put it all up too, i get no time at all however its always the very next loading screen and im right back into the infinite loading screen again v.v put on dif constumes removed constumes tried dif costume combos, tried dif gear combos bought new gear put away money all sorts of things and support… well all support did was move my character back to town and said FIXED
and im like… thats… not fixed tho…

Quick question Blue What classs is your character thats gotte nstuck in the infinite loading bug?

My class is Wiz/Pyro/Thau/Sorc, but I don’t think class would affect it… judging from what I found trying to fix the issue, I’m pretty sure it’s something to do with how the inventory is programmed. There was another old thread where every single person who had the loading bug also happened to have equipped the same item (Tasselled Armband I think?), and removing it fixed the bug for them. I don’t think it’s a coincidence I fixed the issue myself by messing with my inventory.

That said, programming is pretty complicated. One tiny mistake can cause all kinds of issues, trying to fix it without fixing the code itself is a crapshoot. The upcoming patch does have a line about changing the inventory system to “reduce inventory navigation-related FPS drop issues”, though, so maybe this will help with the loading bug as well if the two are connected. Maybe give the game one more try after the patch goes live tomorrow?

im not wholly sure… if it is an inventory issue its happened to me twice unlike you however i am only lv 60 ish both time it happened to me,

for me both character used a 2h sword and that was the only similarity
more then anything tho if it was an invntory thingy my preist and archer arealso same lv range same quest progression as well atm and they havent had any issues at all jsut my barb and highlander…
my wizard is still low lv so idk bout that yet

I really wish we could recreat the moment this happens so they can hopefully fix it… till then i spose imma go find anotehr game to play cuz again unliek you getting your hour or o in i get till next load screen only lol v.v
